Beginning February 1983, we asked everyone interested to submit histories of their families for publication. We put no restrictions as to the length, but asked that they be confined primarily to Coleman County, and reserved the right to edit whenever necessary. We felt that we would get about four hundred of these histories, but wound up with almost 1100 thus having to produce this work in two volumes. We edited pre- and post- Coleman County information, duplication from other stories, and some excessive story-telling, philosophy, and other non-historical information. Because of the length of time that the editing and publication process took, we added deaths. births. etc. that had occurred between the writing of the stories and June 1. 1984, of which we received information. In some cases. we moved information from one story to another, where it was more relevant. We do not feel that we edited any information from any story that was historically pertinent, but condensed the information to take up less space.
