Templeton William (Bud) Bartholomew was born February 5, 1856 to William G. D. (Guy), born September 24, 1822) and Rosa Ann (Williams) Bartholomew, born May 22, 1823.  Bud was a land owner, farmer, and rancher in Grayson County before coming to Coleman County to settle.  There are records of land purchases in Coleman County, as well as his registered brand.  He married first, Victoria E. Hackleman, November 26, 1876 in Grayson County.  She was born about 1854 in Alabama, and her family owned land in Grayson County. Bud was Precinct #1 County Commissioner and had to witness the first and only hanging in Coleman County.  He was wearing a large black hat and tipped it down over his eyes to keep from seeing the hanging.  The children from this marriage were:

Bill has an adopted daughter.  Roxie and Guy are buried in Greenleaf Cemetery at Brownwood.

     (2) Rosey W., born January 22, 1880, married Harvey E. Miller September 11, 1898.  Harvey was a Baptist minister, born November 21, 1872.  Their children were Isabel, born September 7, 1899, married H. E. Thurman, who died in 1983; and Raymond, November 27, 1904 - December 24, 1906.

     (3) May N., born March 23, 1882, married Kenneth B. Story (see Kenneth B. Story and Tracy Porterfield Story).

     (4) Maud E., born August 7, 1884, married J. T. Elkins, December 27, 1910.

Victoria E. died March 29, 1887.  Templeton William (Bud) married second, Mrs. Florence Williamson, February 14, 1888 in Coleman County. Their children were

     (1) Bettie V., born November 21, 1888, married a Langford, then a Williams.

     (2) Bertha, September 15, 1890, married Bert Stobaugh and they had two children, Evelyn and Wiley (see Petty-Stobaugh-Smith).

     (3) Arch B., May 27, 1893.  Bud died March 23, 1926 in a field at the end of a row.
His horses were still in harness when he was found.
