William Franklin Holt was born in Western Grove, Boone County, Arkansas, August 24, 1879, the son of William Carroll and Nancy Montgomery (Potts) Holt (see William Carroll Holt).  He married Jessie Lee Williams, daughter of John and Mary Susan (Turner) Williams, at Santa Anna, September 12, 1903 (see John William Williams).  William Franklin was a stock farmer and spent almost his entire life on the same farm in the Liberty Community.  Jessie Lee taught several terms in the rural schools of Coleman County.  William served several terms as trustee of the Liberty School.  They belonged to the Methodist Church.  William Franklin died April 29, 1954, and Jessie Lee, November 5, 1966; both buried in Santa Anna.  The following children were born to them.
(1) Bonnie Juanita, 1904, married James W. Leigh, son of J. M. and Mary Ann Leigh of Sulphur Springs, Texas.  They had one daughter, Nita Jim Ray of Granbury.  They spent many years in the retail clothing business in Weatherford, Sherman, and Henderson.  James died in 1961, Juanita in 1973, both buried at Santa Anna.

(2) Harry Welton, born 1907, married Audrey D. Bull, daughter of Malt and Lessie Bull of Bangs.  For many years, Audrey was a teacher in Coleman County.  Welton was a stockfarmer and truck driver.  They were members of Trinity Methodist Church in Coleman.  Welton died September 24, 1973, buried at Santa Anna.

(3) William Roger, born 1910, married Claudia Bull, daughter of Malt and Lessie Bull of Bangs.  They had three children: (3a) Jerry Dale, who married Bennie Wilson of Brownwood.  They live in Fredericksburg, and have two sons, Jeffrey Dale, and Rodney Allen; (3b) Ann Gayle married Bob Turner of Voss, and they have three sons, Gary, Sam and Darrell (see Robert Ellison Turner); (3c) Donnie Robert married Anne Pearce of Coleman, and lives in Woodbridge, Virginia (see A. L. Pearce).  They have two children, Staci Kathleen and Stephen Robert.  Claudia died in 1952, buried at Santa Anna.  Roger is married to the former Louise Kramer King, and resides in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

(4) Frankie Willene, born 1914, married Samuel B. Swafford, son of W. B. and Hattie A. Swafford of Rice.  She is a graduate of Howard Payne University, and is retired from the Abilene Public School System.  She and Sam are active members of the First Methodist Church in Abilene, where they live.

(5) Mary Virginia, born 1917, married Chester F. Austin, son of Chester F. and Edna (Burgess) Austin of Princeton, West Virginia.  She graduated from Santa Anna High School, entered the Federal Service, and retired from the National Labor Relations Board in 1978.  She is an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, where she and her husband reside.

(6) Barney Ford, born 1922, married Edna Willene McGaughey, daughter of Will and Nannie McGaughey of Bangs.  They are active members of the First Baptist Church in Bangs, and live on their farm near Bangs.  He is presently with the 3M Corporation in Brownwood.  They have four children: (6a) Glenn Ford of DeSoto, married Vicki Russell.  Three children: Julie, Laci and Chris.  (6b) Lynn Will of Denton, married Judy Jeter.  Three children: Robert, Richard and Pamela Gayle.  (6c) Janice of Brownwood, married Ernest Harvey.  They have three sons, Michael, Steven and Brian.  (6d) Becky married Jon Sloan of Round Rock.

(7) Duane Carroll, born 1926, married Elizabeth Eeds of Santa Anna.  They had one son, D. Carroll II, who married Rebecca Hope Turney (see Moses M. Turney).  Elizabeth died in 1950.  Carroll later married Carolyn Gaines, daughter of Carey and Ruth Gaines of Brownwood.  They have one daughter, Jessie Kaye of Washington, D.C., two children, Daniel and Carey Michelle.  Carroll graduated from Santa Anna High School and Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport, Iowa.  He is a member of the Episcopal Church, resides in Brownwood, where he maintains a Chiropractic practice.
