Wiley Douglas Allen
was the son of George H. Allen and Alice
Jackson, born May 28, 1892, in
Coleman. He had three brothers - L.
D., T. J. and G. L. - and one sister,
Bess. Doug and T. J. were the only
ones to remain in Coleman all their
lives. Doug married Kathleen Coulson,
December 13, 1912 (see W. J. Coulson).
They had two children, Douglas
Coulson, born December 13, 1914. and
Corinne, August 3, 1916 (see I.E. D.
Shepherd). Coulson died January 21,
1922. Doug and T. J. were in the
insurance business together for several
years - known as Allen & Allen Insurance
Company. Doug put in the first
concrete paving in Coleman. He also
was a building contractor, building many
homes in Coleman. He enjoyed hunting
and fishing. He was also a golfer -
being the local club champion in the early
1930's. He died March 15, 1956, buried
in Coleman (see George Henry Allen).
Kathleen lived all
her life in Coleman. She graduated
from Coleman High School and attended St.
Marys in Dallas. She was a life long
member of the Presbyterian Church -
teaching Sunday School for over thirty
years. She taught piano for many
years. She was a member of the William
Buckner Chapter of the D. A. R. for over
fifty years. Kathleen died October 24,
1981, buried in Coleman.
