John Butler and Sarah Nevada (Jeffus) Pitts came to Coleman County in 1904 from Ellis County (see Waymon Dixon Pitts).  John (1867-1937) was born in Arkansas and Nevada (1869-1949) was born in Lamar County, Texas, both buried in Coleman.  To this union two children were born:

       (1) Charles Wesley (1899-1969), born in Ellis County, buried in Coleman, married Clement Dibrell (1899-1976), March 18, 1914.  She was born in Coleman, buried in Coleman, the daughter of J. C. and Margaret (Mooney) Dibrell (see William Carter Dibrell). They had four children:

(1a) Elizabeth Clementine (born March 2, 1915), married Charles M. Wagner, June 6, 1944. They had two daughters:
Elizabeth Ann and Judith Mae.  Elizabeth is a retired accountant.  Charles is retired from the Nueces County Electric Co-op.  They live in Corpus Christi.

(1b) Charles Wesley Jr. (March 23, 1917) married Georgia Sparkman, June 20, 1946. (see Sparkman)  Charles is a retired engineer from the Celanese Plant in Bishop, and Georgia is a retired teacher.

         (1c) Jane Beryl (September 24, 1921) married Winfred O. Atchley, September 8, 1943 (see Robert H. Atchley).

(1d) Marian Katheryn (September 22, 1927) married Glen Harold Phillips (see Glen Harold Phillips).

       (2) Mable Eunice (1899-1983) born in Ellis County, died in Tarrant County.  She married Ira Stafford.  He was a postal employee.  They were active in the Methodist church and civic activities in Fort Worth.

When John and Nevada Pitts came to Coleman County, they bought land on Hords Creek, four miles west of town.  He was a stockfarmer and a very active member of the Methodist Church. Charlie and Clement Pitts in 1914 bought land adjacent to John and Nevada's land.  They were stock farmers and ran a dairy for sometime.  In 1937, Charlie helped to organize the Coleman County Electric Co-op, and was its president for several years.  In 1975, Clement, Elizabeth, Charles, Jane and Kathryn sold their home place to the Taylor and Rhone Brothers.
