THE JAMES J. HORNER FAMILY

James Jefferson Homer (June 5, 1886 - June 17, 1964) and Alice McNutt (March 8, 1889 - November 26, 1973) were married at Comanche on October 30, 1907, and they moved to Coleman County in 1918. Settling on a farm north of Santa Anna, they were active in their small community and joined the First Baptist Church in town. They later moved to the Plainview community west of town, and always maintained their church and civic connections in Santa Anna. Their children:

(1) Vada (June 14, 1909) married Emmett Smith of Santa Anna, and they and their sons, Kenneth and Emmett, live at Lovington, New Mexico.
(2) Nadine (May 20, 1911) married Dennis Smith, and they and their son, James, live at Hobbs, New Mexico.
(3) Vera (January 22, 1914) married W. A. Byram, Jr., and their home is in Abilene.
(4) James Carson (October 8, 1917 - September 9, 1958) married Katherine Manley; their children are Lawanda Kay (Mrs. Gary) Hosch (see Walter J. Hosch), whose daughters are Shannon and Shayla; Margueritte (Mrs. James) Gilbreath and their sons are James Cody and Keith. Jerry James Homer, son of Carson, married Barbara Jones, and their sons are Carson and Robert.
(5) William Bailey (August 3, 1920) brought back a bride from World War II; she was Mary Burke of Bedford, England. Following many years away, they have returned to Santa Anna and restored as their home the interesting old home of the Lee Hunters. Their children are Rita Alice (Kerr), Teresa Ann (Carter) and Gary Dale.
(6) Richard Ralph (December 11, 1922) married Omadean McDonald of Santa Anna. He has been with an oil company for many years, and they are land owners and farmers (see William Arthur Brandon). All the Richard Horner family are active in the community and in the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna.
