     Newton L. C. Barnett came to Texas from Mississippi. He married Lucy Talk, daughter of John Talk of Travis County, January 16, 1872.  They had one son, Lorenzo Dow "Rinzy" born February 2, 1872; Lucy died in childbirth.  Newton married second Edora Kuykendall (born May 6, 1860, daughter of John and Sallie Whittington Kuykendall), May 6, 1875. They had seven children.  Newt and his family left Goliad County in 1893 on their way to Brown County.  Newt developed typhoid fever and died in 1894; buried on the banks of the Big Sandy Creek, north of Fredericksburg.  Edora sat in the wagon, as she was too big and heavy to climb up and down, and watched her husband as he was laid to rest.  A few weeks later, the eighth baby was born.  Edora and children came to settle in Bangs, and to Coleman County in 1906.  Edora died April 28, 1948, buried at Bangs.

     Lorenzo Dow "'Rinzy" married Alice Cornelia Nance, born September 12, 1874, daughter of Henry and Ann (Williams) Nance of Goliad County, January 16, 1895.  They lived most of their lives in Coleman County, farming and raising turkeys between Santa Anna and Whon.  Lorenzo was also known as "R. B." and "Turkey" Barnett.  He died October 12, 1945, buried at Salem Cemetery, Brown County; Alice, February 24, 1961, buried at Coleman.  Their children were:

     (1) Etta Viola, born November 4, 1896, Goliad County, married Ancil Forbess (see James Marion Forbess);

     (2) Willard Gordon, September 10, 1903, Goliad County, never married, died in 1968, buried at Coleman; and

     (3) Lola Lee, born in 1898, Goliad County, married Talmadge Moran, died in 1919, buried at Salem Cemetery, children - R. B. and Iona, who married Max Price of Santa Anna. 

     The children of Newt and Edora were:

     (1) Oscar, born September 15, 1876. (See William Oscar Barnett).

     (2) Mollie "'Mellye" in 1878, married Albert Colbath, born September 11, 1868.  Their children were Marion and Ida.

     (3) Charter, in 1879, died young.

     (4) Claudia Camissa, April 1, 1882, (see George M. Fleming).

     (5) Annie Catherine, January 12, 1885, married first, Jim Heffner, their children were Margaret "Maggie" and James "Buddy."  She married second, George Cooper and their child was George, Jr. "Cotton."  Annie married third, a Mathews.

     (6) Cynthia Parolee, August 12, 1887, married Edward Louis Reynolds, December 6, 1906. (See George M. Fleming).  Their children were: Edna Lucile, Louis Hubbard, Velma Catherine, Robert Henry, and Ivan Oscar.

     (7) Lonzo McMann, June 26, 1889 (see Lonzo McMann Barnett).

     (8) Willie Newton, married first Ward Rodgers and had Rowl and Earl.  She married second a Bloomquest.  Willie committed suicide in 1961.
