John Wesley was the son of William and Elizabeth (Patillo) Hambright, Upshur County pioneers, who came to Texas about 1841.  John Wesley was born September 9, 1852 at Ore City.  He married Josephine Gardun (Gordon), November 28, 1883 (see Gordon Family).  They lived on a farm near Gilmer.  On August 19, 1884, a son, O. L., was born.  A second son, John Bennett, was born December 16, 1887.  In 1889, John, Josephine and their two sons came to Coleman County and purchased a farm north of Coleman in the Indian Creek community, where his grandson, Mack Hambright, lives now.  Two more children were born.  A girl, Maudie, September 1890-October 28, 1891, and a son, William Elton, March 6, 1893.  John and Josephine were charter members of the Indian Creek Methodist Church.  The children attended Indian Creek schools and Coleman schools.  They purchased another farm about one mile west and lived there until their death.  John Wesley died December 13, 1914, and Josephine, February 28, 1942, both buried in Coleman.

(3) William Elton lived in Coleman County all his life.  He married Ruth Johnson, daughter of R. A. and Debbie (Kelley) Johnson, and they farmed the Talpa place and the home place at Coleman. Ruth is a sister to Jessie Lee Brewer (see George W. Brewer).  William (Bill) was a veteran of WW I, a member of the American Legion and the Men’s Downtown Sunday School Class.  He worked as a guard during WW II at the Coleman Flying School.  They purchased a home in Coleman and he worked at the Coleman Co-op Feed Store until he retired.  He died April 10, 1967, buried in Coleman.  Ruth owned a beauty shop in Coleman.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and the Indian Creek Home Demonstration Club.  She died April 28, 1951, buried in Coleman.  They had two children: (3a) Jo Ann, born July 14, 1929, married Williard Allen (see Orville S. Allen); (3b) Will Mack, December 4, 1931, married Patsy Bryan, April 20, 1957.  He is employed by Coleman County Electric Co-op.  Patsy is employed at Taylor Motor Company.  Four children: (a) Kathy Ruth, October 15, 1958, married Lance Vaughan, son of the Lee Vaughans, August 9, 1980.  One son, Jeremy Lance, March 27, 1984 (see William O.
