Thomas Franklin (T. F.) Harris was born in Tennessee December 15, 1869.  His mother was Ameda (Clay) Harris born in Tennessee in 1849, one of the three sisters of Dr. A. Brown Clay.  Apparently T. F.’s father died when he was very young and is buried in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Fayette County, Tennessee (see Dr. A. Brown Clay).  T. F. married (1) Adeline (Addie) Hugueley (Huguely) and they had one son, Artemus (Artie) Simeon, May 27, 1891 in Trimble, Dyer County, Tennessee.  After Addie died, he married (2) Nancy Jane Loyd, a native of Holcomb, Dunldin County, Missouri, at Trimble October 3, 1897.  T. F. and Nancy moved to Newbern, Dyer County and later to Mount Vernon, Monroe County.  He taught in little country schools in Missouri and Tennessee prior to coming to Texas in 1902.  Artie came to Texas with them.

Tom Harris taught school first in Talpa, later in Millersview and Mereta and Orient, the last two in Tom Green County.  He and Nancy had two sons: Loyd, born April 6, 1902 (at Talpa) and Raymond Averil, born October 11, 1906.  Loyd and his wife, Ruby, are now dead.  They had one son, Thomas Raymond (Tom) who lives in Nashville.  Raymond and his wife, Hazel Byrd, live in Waco and have three children: Loyd Lee of San Antonio, Averil Bradford of Big Spring and Rene of Anchorage, Alaska.  Tom and Nancy moved to San Angelo in 1912.  He died February 23, 1950 and Nancy at a later date, both buried in Miles.

Artie married Roxie Holland July 22, 1915, born December 7, 1897 in Bell County and moved to the Ray community near Miles as a small child.  They operated a dairy farm in the Miles area. She died February 19, 1973 and he June 7,1973, both buried in Miles.  Their children are: James F. and Charlie of San Angelo; Buryl and Henry of Fort Worth; Selma McGuire, Josie McGuire and Geneva Bloodworth of San Angelo.
