Samuel Quinton Beall, Sr., and
wife, T. E. (Talbot) Beall, with their
three children, Eva, Samuel Quinton, Jr.,
and John, came to Texas from Georgia after
the Civil War, settling in the
Stephenville area in Erath County.
J. W. and Emily T. Harris came to Texas
with their family from Tennessee and
settled in the Lipan community in Hood
County.
Samuel Quinton,
Jr., married Mollie Bryant Harris,
November 25, 1890 in Weatherford.
They came to Coleman County in 1890 and
purchased a farm ten miles northwest of
Coleman in the Silver Valley community
November 21, 1899. Samuel and Mollie
Beall had eight children, all born in
Coleman County, and attended both church
and school at Silver Valley. Their
eight children were:
(I) Quinton, born
August 31, 1891. He died August 1,
1892, and is buried in the Coleman
Cemetery.
(2) Eva Camilla was
born May 16, 1895. She married Spurgeon
Thompson (see Moses Thompson) February 27,
1916. They had one daughter,
Juanita. Eva Camilla died July 12,
1954 and is buried in the Silver Valley
Cemetery.
(3) Anna Laura
was born September 9, 1897. She
married Albert Gafford May 7,
1916. One daughter was born to
them. Both Anna Laura and her
daughter died February 16, 1917, buried in
the Silver Valley Cemetery.
(4) Dillard
Burrough was born September 15,
1899. He worked as a Santa Fe Agent
at Goldsboro, became a dispatcher in
Coleman, and an Agent at Granbury.
He was married to Clara Gafford.
They had four children: Sammie Jo, Wayman
Worth
Evelyn, and Richard Wayland. Dillard
Burrough died September 19, 1962.
(5) Loyd Armstead
was born August 28, 1901 in Silver
Valley. He was employed by Santa Fe
Railway in Lubbock until his retirement
January 8, 1965. He served a short
time in the army during World War
II. Loyd Armstead moved to Coleman
after his retirement and died November 30,
1977. He is buried in the Coleman
Cemetery.
(6) John Talbot was
born April 10, 1903 in Silver Valley and
married Ila Mae Fariss. They had one
son, Talbot Wayne. John Talbot died
February 12, 1929 from a truck-train
accident. He is buried in the
Coleman Cemetery.
(7) Irma Maurine was
born March 19, 1906 in Silver
Valley. She married R.H. Caver
October 9, 1948 and lives in Baytown,
Texas.
(8) Pauline was
born April 3, 1910 in Silver Valley and
married Marlin Olynn Thompson July 5, 1933
(see Moses Thompson). He was a
postal employee and rural mail carrier
until his death August 19, 1971. He
served in the Navy during World War II and
also in the Korean War. Martin is
buried in Coleman.
Samuel Quinton
Beall, Jr., farmed as long as he was able
in Silver Valley. He died October,
1930 and is buried in the Coleman
Cemetery. Mollie B. Beall moved to
Coleman in 1934 and lived with her
daughter, Pauline, and her husband, Marlin
Thompson, until her death February 21,
1955. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Coleman and is buried in
the Coleman Cemetery.
