My parents were Thomas Ernest and Lillian Clarice (Roberds) Keeney
of Coleman County (see Isaac Keeney).
I was born February 22, 1927 on Hords Creek, and attended Lone Star school
for two years and Cross Roads for six years. On September 26, 1947,
I married Laura Aline Dyer of Coleman, born January 24, 1931 in Coleman
County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dyer of Coleman (see John Annanias
Smith). We have three children, born in Coleman County:
(1) Melba Lois, July 12, 1948, attended Santa Anna schools,
married John Matthews Duke of Houston, February 14, 1976, born December
23, 1949 in Opalousa, Louisiana. They have two children, Kaylyn,
April 1, 1969 in Coleman County, and Will Keeney, March 10, 1978 in Smith
County, Texas.
(2) Roy Dean, May 25, 1955, attended Santa Anna schools, married Glenda
Lea Strickland, June 29, 1972, born May 21, 1954. They have three
children, Zane Dean, February 10, 1973; Ernest Lee, June 20, 1978 and Kristen
DeAnn, April 25, 1980, all born in Brown County. Roy Dean has worked
for the past ten years as a dozer operator for Smoky Raymer of Coleman
and lives on a farm south of Santa Anna. They are Baptists.
(3) Sharon Kay, January 6, 1958, attended Santa Anna schools,
married Lane Guthrie (see J. A. Guthrie). I went to work at Santa
Anna Tile Company in August 1963 and worked there in maintenance until
April 1977. I then went to work for the Charlie Campbell Corporation
in May 1977.
