Zack
Bible I, son of Jacob and Arabella
(Clerry) Bible, was born about 1838 in
Greene County, Tennessee. He
married Elidda "Liddie" Jane Roberts,
born about 1843 in Tennessee and died
October. 1882 in Burnet County. It
is not known what became of Zack.
Of their ten children, the first seven
were born in Tennessee. The family
came to Texas about 1875, settling near
Fairland in Burnet County. where the
other three children were born.
The oldest child was
(1) Mary
Elidda, born in 1860, she married Jarit
Hatten. (See Hatten).
When her mother died, she took care of the
younger children, who came with her to
Coleman County about 1900.
(2) Sarah "Sallie' was
born about 1862 and married Will Ripley,
and they lived at Whon.
(3) Sam "Willie'
was born about 1865. He never married and
was crippled from birth. After the family
moved to Whon in the early 1900's, he
lived there with his brothers Elisha,
Zack, and Charlie, until he died o
pneumonia, October 30, 1925, buried at
Whon.
(4) Elisha W.
(October 29, 1866- July 8, 1921, buried at
Whon) married Cassie E. Moore (May 3, 1867
- January 27, 1952, buried at Whon)
October 24, 1888 at Marble Falls.
Cassie moved to Melvin in 1922 and bought
the telephone exchange there, moving to
Santa Anna in 1926. Their children
were (not in order of birth):
Roy (April 8, 1891 -
October 22, 1983, buried at Whon),
married first, Nettie Walters
November 15, 1895-September 3, 1960)
in Brady in 1916; second, Mary
Woodcock in Brady. His
children were: Ila Lorene (Shipman)
of Santa Anna, Doris (Harvey) of
Santa Anna, Myrtle (Looney) of
Hobbs, Neva (Bird) of Odessa,
Mildred (Carter) of Ozark, Alabama,
Cassie (Kuykendall) of Brownwood,
Wilburn of Santa Anna, Bobby of
Santa Anna, Billy of Garland, E.J.
of San Angelo, I. O. of Sonora,
Lillian (Siller) who died in 1970,
E. W. who died in 1979, and Thomas
J., who died February 9, 1917,
buried at Whon.
Letha
M. (October 15, 1899 - May 19, 1918,
buried at Whon).
Jim Gill (December 6,
1904 - September 8, 1913, buried at
Whon).
Bertha, married
first, C. C. Peeples (see Peeples);
second, a Simmons.
Stella, married first
Joseph Blake Forehand see Forehand),
married second, a Hash.
Lee Elva,
married Walter Rutherford (see William
Harvey Rutherford).
Maudie Pearl, married
J. A. Rutherford (see William Harvey
Rutherford).
G.R. lived at
Lockhart.
Elsie, married Cleg
Gassiot, May 16, 1928 (see Gassiot),
now of Brady.
Ima, married James
Simpson, now ot Corpus Christi see
ames Davis Simpson).

Josephine, born about 1869, married Harsle
V. Moore.
(6) Swan B., born
about 1871 married Nora Maynard; their
children were Raymond (born about 1903,
married Carrie Lee Wells in Coleman,
August 20, 1924, died April 3, 1979),
Ernest (lived at Cisco), Alvey (lived at
Abilene), and Claude (lived at Santa Anna)
(see Dick Baugh).
Raymond's children were: Shirley (Baker)
of Brownwood, Carmilita (Brandsetter) of
Brownwood, Lynn of Bangs, and Earl, who
died in 1966.
(7) Kate "Kittie"
(Kasiah), born about 1874, married James
A. Joy II of Cottonwood. Their
children were Cleo, Robert, James C.,
Maud, Willie, Beulah, Claud, and Orcel.
(8) Zack II,
(born March 3, 1876-December 5, 1968)
married Mary E. Peeples, December 29, 1909
(see Peeples). Their children are
Orval and Juanita (see Zack Bible II).
(9) Ellen, born
about 1879, married Marsh Rawlins.
Their children were Ernest, Delbert,
William, and Viola. Only William is
still living, at Port Lavaca.
(10) Charlie
(September 27, 1882-March 26, 1935, buried
at Whon) was raised by his sister,
Mary. He married Annie Guise (see Charlie
Bible).
