James Martin Hickox, born October 19, 1829 in Pisgah, (Bruceton) Cooper County, Missouri, and Nancy Ann Reavis, born December 11, 1831 in Missouri, were married February 3, 1852 in Missouri.  They had a daughter, Maria Elizabeth, born November 16, 1852 in Missouri, who married John Talbot in January 1868.  They had a daughter, Ophelia Cynthia October 31, 1869 who married William Mitchell Ledford, born December 28, 1855 in Cherokee County, North Carolina.  The Ledford’s three daughters:  Lorene Ione, February 14, 1898 at Keller and Eunice and Bernice (twins) August 18, 1901 - November 10, 1901, both buried in Talpa.  William Ledford died December 26, 1928.

James and Nancy Hickox went to Austin in 1854 and their son, Thomas Fenton, was born there January 17, 1855.  They came to Talpa in about 1887 to be near their son, Thomas Fenton (see Thomas Fenton Hickox).  James Hickox died January 28, 1906, Nancy Ann, June 21, 1910, both buried in Talpa.  There is a Masonic emblem on his headstone.  They were my great grandparents.

The April 16, 1910 Census for Coleman County, Precinct #5 shows Nancy A. Hickox as head of the household and her father and mother were born in North Carolina.  It also shows a granddaughter, Anne Fomrell, age 36, single, born in Texas; her parents were also born in Texas.  Anne was a milliner at Talpa.
