Harry and Winnie Dibrell

Harry Dibrell (see William
Carter Dibrell), son of Frank A. and
Mary Miller Dibrell, was born on Mav 30,
1893. Harry was a life long resident
of Coleman County and an Army Veteran of
WWI, serving in the U.S. Army Occupation of
Germany. Harry married Winnie Lucille
McWilliams in 1920 in Coleman, born August
6, 1899. Harry was a rancher until he
developed cardiac disease and diabetes
forcing him to retire. After the onset
of his illness he was semi invalid spending
his time visiting with friends at his home
or at Bowens Drug Store. He was active
in the Downtown Men's Sunday School.
He died in Coleman, February 25, 1961.
Winnie was active in the Homemakers Club and
St. Mark's Episcopal Church. At one
time she served as President of Women of St.
Mark's. She died in Coleman, August
31, 1973.
Harry and Winnie
had one son, Jack Harry, born in Brownwood
on December 13, 1927. Jack attended
school in Echo and Coleman, graduating from
Coleman High School in 1945. He played
football with the Coleman Bluecats. He
entered Texas A&M College in 1945, and
was a member of the Corp of Cadets. He
graduated from A&M with a degree in
Agricultural Education in 1949. After
graduation, Jack was commissioned a Second
Lieutenant in the Infantry Branch of the
U.S. Army. His first assignment was at
Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, where he met Anne
Sisk of Fort Smith. On May 5, 1950,
Jack and Anne were married at Fort Benning,
Georgia, where Jack was attending the
Infantry Basis course. They had three
sons, Harry Neal, Jack Carter, and Mark
Wayne. Colonel Jack H. Dibrell served
with distinction for 28 years as an Army
Officer until his death in an automobile
accident April 1, 1977, in San Antonio.
