The Charlie S. Bible Family

     Charlie S. Bible came to Whon in 1900, the youngest son of Zack and Liddie (Roberts) Bible. (See Zack Bible).  His mother had died when he was three weeks old.  Mary Hatten, Charlie's oldest sister, had brought the youngest children with her to Whon after her parents died.  Charlie. born September 27, 1882, grew up at Whon and married Annie Guice (daughter of John and ? (Patton) Guice) or March 13, 1907 at Coleman, born November 6, 1887.  They moved to Comanche County, but returned to Coleman County in the 1920's.  Charlie died March 26, 1935; Annie July 26, 1963; both buried at Whon Cemetery.  Their children were:

     (1) Alfred Charlie (born December 31, 1907 at Whon) married November 16, 1924 at Whon, Josephine "Buzzy' Harrison (born December 24, 1906 in Blanco County), daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth (Crider) Harrison.  They currently reside at Killeen.  Born to them were:

       (1a) Edith Elwanda "Tincy" (November 17, 1925 at Whon), married (1) Von Lee Sudderth in February. 1943.  Their children were Linda (born January 8, 1944), married Gordon McCullough (see Raleigh McCullough), and Gary Von (January 28, 1946), married Nancy Williamson. (See James A Wester).  They live at Lake Brownwood and have no children.  Tincy married (2) Rex Turney and had two children, Rebecca Hope and Mark (see Moses M. Turney).

       (1b) Dorris Willene "June," born June 27, 1929, married Harry Neal Sanderford, June 9, 1947.  They had five children: Carolyn Jean, Cynthia Kay, Neal Ray, Glynda Sue, and Ricky Lynn.  Harry Neal is deceased and June lives near Kempner. 

       (1c) Odis Lee, born July 13, 1942, married Nina Parker, April 17, 1965.  They have one son, Christopher Lee, and reside near Killeen.


     (2) Artie Mae (born August 29, 1909, died February 12, 1958) married Stanley Crider (born September 15, 1906 at Comanche), May 2, 1925.  Their children were: Johnnie Fay born May 9, 1927 at Leaday); Belvin Dexter (September 18, 1929 at Leaday); Doylene Zelma (November 29, 1931 at Winters); Charles Frederick (August 18, 1936 at Whon); and Jackie Ross (April 28, 1945 at Rising Star).

     (3) Stephen "Steve" (born September 3, 1913, died June 30, 1981, buried at Rock Creek Cemetery in Brown County), married (1) Alma Harvey and had a daughter, Mary, who married a Stanavelli and lives in Michigan.  Steve married (2) Willie May Woods, and (3) Martha Carrouth, September 3, 1977.  He worked for Sanger-Harris at one time, and at the time of his death, was in the watch repair business in Brownwood and lived at Rising Star.

     (4) E. W. married Joyce McKeehan, they live in Arlington, and had two children, Larry and Kenny (adopted).

     (5) Emma "Emily" Luene married (1) John Jennings and had four children: John Dewayne, Lanny Dean, Danny Ray, and Regina.  She married (2) Joe Westmoreland.
