      John Taylor McQueen, February 14, 1827 in North Carolina-March 20, 1899, buried on his farm in Latexo, served with the Confederate Army, Co. A., First Battalion, Alabama Volunteer Army and fought in the Mexican War.  When he moved to Texas, he settled at Latexo, Houston County, where he farmed 160 acres.  He married (1) Eliza Diggs and they had eight children: Cora, Cecilia, Bob, Virgil, Ben, William, John Morgan and Daniel M.  After Eliza's death, John married (2) Nancy Ann Wicker, October 4, 1859 - October 28, 1937, buried in Glen Cove.  They had two children:

   (a) Edgar, March 7, 1879-July 13, 1950 in Latexo, married (1) Alice Blackburn. Four children: John Otis, Jeffery and Harvey.  After Alice died, Edgar moved to Houston County and married (2) Winnie Turner Green.  They had five children who made their home in Houston County.

   (b) Edna married Phillip U. Nealy (see Joseph Nealy). Nancy moved to Coleman County with the Nealy family and lived with them until her death.

     Of the eight children born to John and Eliza, two made their home in Coleman County. They were:

   (1) John Morgan, born December 7, 1862, married Bennie Lou (Dollie) Crenshaw in 1886 (see John Morgan McQueen);

   (2) Daniel M., August 6, 1867 - March 3, 1937, buried Talpa, married (1) Annie Belle Brinkley.  They had four surviving children:

     (2a) Alice M., March 18, 1892-February 26, 1984, married Lee Duggins, July 19, 1884-February 12, 1962, both buried Talpa, on May 25, 1908.  Their surviving children: Annie Lee (Paul), Margie (Mrs. R.V.) Baker, Martha (Mrs. J.D.) Eason, Marion (Mrs. C.E.) Childs, Talmadge K. and L.G.

     (2b) Lucy, May 11, 1894-September 1977, married W. Henry Williams, August 24, 1885-August 9, 1928, the son of Dave and Nancy (Hill) Watts).  Lucy, Henry and Nancy are buried at Glen Cove.  Three children: Jo Ann (Baker), has the cafe, Bud and Cliff Williams, all live in Valera.

     (2c) Nancy (Ida), August 12, 1895-September 7, 1976, married Oscar W. Calhoon, June 27, 1891-October 18, 1965, both buried at Santa Anna, on December 12, 1914 at Valera.  Oscar was the son of Charles and Mattie (Reed or Reid) Calhoon. Children: Opal (Halmon-Clearman), Odie, now deceased, and Mural.

     (2d) George, February 5, 1887-January 6, 1963, married Lillian Gladys Hipsher, April 13, 1899-January 21, 1966, both buried Talpa (see James W. Hipsher). After Annie's death, Daniel M. married (2) Sarah A. (Sally) Davis, November 3, 1865-June 4, 1948, buried Talpa.  They had two children:

       (a) Elmer, August 26, 1902-1977, married Harve Sullivan, who had a blacksmith shop in Talpa several years. He also worked for Santa Fe.

       (b) Ollie, August 12, 1907, married Floyd Titsworth, December 10, 1905-January 23, 1981, buried at Valera, the son of Sanders and Fannie (Loflin) Titsworth.  Children: Joyce (Moore) and Laverne (West) Daniel farmed and lived most of his life at Talpa.
