Kathleen Barnett
was born August 14, 1908 in Novice (see John
Marion Barnett). She attended C.I.A.
(Texas Women's University) in Denton, two
years before meeting Dr. C. F. Bailey of
Ballinger. They were married November
22, 1928. Their two children were born
in Ballinger. They are:
(1) Charles
Ferguson, Jr., October 8, 1931, graduated
from T.C.U. and entered medical school In
Galveston, graduating in 1958. He has
four children, Charles F. III, Tracy
Shapiro, Christopher and Whitley. Dr.
Charles F. Bailey and his wife, Joan, live
in Arlington.
(2) Sally Velma, October 3, 1935, was
named for Kathleen's mother, attended
Christian College in Columbia,
Missouri. In 1958, she graduated from
medical school in Galveston with a degree in
medical technology. She married Dr.
Jay C. Fish in June, 1958, and they
presently reside in Galveston. They
have two children: Scott and Collie.
Kathleen was an
active member of the First Christian Church
in Ballinger. She received an honorary
Doctorate degree from T.C.U. in 1966.
Dr. Charles Bailey, Sr., died May 21, 1968,
and Kathleen moved to Indiana to assume the
position of Vice President of the United
Christian Missionary Society in 1967.
Kathleen retired in 1975 and died June 15,
1981, from cancer. Both she and Dr.
Bailey are buried in Ballinger.
