Delma Bryan Johnson was born July 10, 1900 in Welder, Texas, to R. W. and Ora (Peacock) Johnson.  After his wife’s death in 1904, R. W. moved their children, Delma and Alma, to Lampasas.  R. W. married second Lula Johnson in Brady.  They had eight children: Lola, Jack, Riley, Omer, R. W. (Dub), Pete, and twin daughters, Vida and Itha.  In 1908, the family moved to Lohn, in McCulloch County, where Delma attended school.

Tinia Clarabell Trewitt was born to Charles and Maude (Hudson) Trewitt in Falls County, June 29, 1902.  Her brothers and sister are: Myles, Olive, Charlie (see G. W. [Brud] Boyle), Thomas, Luther, and Robert.

On Christmas Day, 1920, Delma and Tinia were married in a buggy, sitting in front of the neighbor’s house, where the preacher was having Christmas dinner.  They had six children: Delmarie (1921), Merle Jean (1925), Pat (1928), Don (1930), Cecil Bryan (1933), and Virginia Ann (1942-1943).  Delma farmed in the Lohn area and worked in the John Deere dealership in Brady from 1933 until 1940.  In 1940, the family moved to Coleman, where Delma opened a John Deere dealership.  The store was located in a portion of the present building, and in 1944, it was enlarged to its current size.  The John Deere dealership in Coleman is still in the family.  Delma opened the Delma Johnson Motor Company on south Commercial in 1950; dealer for the Cadillac and Oldsmobile cars.  Delma served many years on the city council, as the country club president, and as a 4-H leader.  He is still active with his farming and ranching interests.  Tinia stays busy as a housewife and enjoys sewing.  The children and their families:

(1) Delmarie married (1st) Van Vanderwalker in 1943.  They had two daughters:  (la) Diane (1944) married Ed Gannon in 1965, two children: Andrea Lynn (1967) and Thomas Bradley (1969).  (lb) Patty (1948) married Sidney Winter in 1979.  Both Diane and Patty now live in New York.  Delmarie married (2nd) Cecil Bell.  The family operated the John Deere store in Brady until Delmarie’s death in 1962.

(2) Merle Jean married Wilbur Clarke in 1947.  He worked with his father-in-law in the car business, then operated the Conoco gas station in Coleman.  Wilber died in Dallas in 1981; Jean now lives in Dallas.  Two daughters: (2a) Candy (1948) married Steve Cline in 1974, one child, Camille Clarke (1976).  Candy and Camille now live in Dallas.  (2b) Tandalyn “Tandy” (1949) married (1st) Gary McClure in 1970 (see John Edward McClure), two sons, Lance Clarke (1970) and Shadrick Spence (1973).  Tandy married (2nd) Gary Howard in 1982.  Twins, Jennifer Lee and Jeremy Don, born May 11, 1984.  Gary had two children by a previous marriage, Cory and Casey.  The family now lives in Brady.

(3) Pat married Peggy Sanders in 1950.  Pat worked for his father in the car business in Coleman for several years.  The family lived in Midland for many years and is now living in Fort Worth.  Four children: Lynna Dale (1951); Martha Rebecca (1952); Michael Dan (Danny) (1954); and Patricia Joy (Tricia) (1955).

(4) Don married Mary Fran Stevens in 1953 (See J. E. Stevens).  He graduated from Texas Tech and Baylor Law School.  They had four children: (4a) Judy Stevens (1955) married Sam Burris II in 1976.  They have two daughters: Leah Kathrine (1976) and Diane Francis (1983); live in Alice.  (4b) Jane Stevens (1957) married Larry Boubel in 1979.  They have a son, Lee Edward (1981), and a daughter, Erin Elizabeth (1984).  They live in Coleman and operate the J. E. Stevens Company. (4c) Joseph Stevens (1959) married Janet May in 1979.  They have two daughters, Ashley May (1981) and Amber May (1984).  Joseph graduated from Angelo State University in August of 1983; live in Coleman.  Joseph is in the oil business.  (4d) Joan Stevens (1963) is a student at Angelo State.  Mary Fran worked in her family’s business, the J. E. Stevens Company, until her death in June 1980.  In 1981, Don married Marian (Lanham) Holdridge.  Marian has a son, Tim Holdridge, by a previous marriage.  Don practices law in Coleman and Marian is in the real estate business.

(5) Cecil married Henna Jean Corder, June 10, 1952 (See Welch Family).  Cecil operates the John Deere store in Coleman.  Herma Jean graduated from Howard Payne University in 1971.  They have four children: (5a) Gwendolyn (Gwen) Sue, September 24, 1953, married Phillip Ray Huggins in 1972 (See Daniel Huggins).  Phil works for Stempel Mfg. Company and Gwen works at John Deere.  (5b) Celia Kaye, March 28, 1957, married Andy Carl Ewing in 1975, one daughter, Andrea René, August 23, 1979.  They live in Brownwood (See Terry-Cissell).  (5c) Viki René, March 8, 1961, married Mark Will Hambright in 1981 (See John W. Hambright).  They live in Coleman.  Viki attends Howard Payne and Mark works on an off-shore rig.  (5d) Michael Bryan (Mike), July 31, 1963, graduated from Texas State Technical Institute in Sweetwater.  He is now working for his father.
