Jarit P. Hatten, born in Burnet County, died in 1925, buried at Eastland, married Mary “Mollie” Emaline Bible, daughter of Zack Bible (see Charlie S. Bible), in 1887.  They came to Coleman County about 1900.  Mollie was born April 13, 1860 in Tennessee; died May 15, 1925; buried at Whon.  She later married a McCord.

Their children were Maggie (born May 13, 1896; married a Walters; died June 2, 1962; buried at Whon), John Ross, Bessie, and L. D.  John Ross was born February 23, 1889 in Middletown, Goliad County; married Hattie Eula Boland, daughter of George and Nannie (Chance) Boland, in Brown County, December, 1911; died September 10, 1924 at Whon and is buried there.  Their children were Lola Winfred (born October 28, 1912 at Zephyer, married (1) William Henry Barnett in 1926 (see William O. Barnett), (2) Lloyd Burnett in 1934, and (3) Ray Guston, May 18, 1947), Elmer Lewis “Buster” (born September 2, 1914 at Christoval), and Cora Florence (born February 8, 1920 at Whon).
