James Dewey (Dood) Henderson was born June 7, 1898 in Bell County, Texas (see C. M. Henderson, Jr.).  The family came to Coleman County in the early 1900’s.  Dood was a farmer in Coleman County most of his life.  He married Edna Irene Cannon (see S. L. Cannon), September 21, 1921.  They had two children, Oran Clay and Jimmie Sue.  Dood and Edna were active in the Baptist Church; he was a deacon at the time of his death in 1965.  Poor health ended Dood’s ability to farm.  He and his wife lived in Brownwood and Comanche.  After his death, Edna returned to Santa Anna where she lived until her death in 1975.

Oran Clay was born July 16, 1922 in Santa Anna, where he spent his boyhood on a farm.  He attended Mayo School until its consolidation with Santa Anna, graduated in 1939.  After graduation he worked for the Santa Anna National Bank and F and M Bank in Abilene for a short period before enrolling in Northwestern State University in Alva, Oklahoma.  He married Bettie Ruth Blue, March 26, 1943, in Cherokee, Oklahoma (see A. W. Blue).  In May, 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, in the 99th Infantry Division.  He was sent overseas in September of 1944.  During the “Belgium Bulge” (Battle of the Bulge), Oran was captured December 18, 1944.  He remained a German P.O.W. until April of 1945.  Oran Elizabeth (Orabeth), his daughter (see Mclver), was born March 14, 1945, while he was still officially listed as missing in action.  He returned to Santa Anna in June 1945.  From 1946 until 1967 Oran was either employed or self-employed in various aspects of the oil industry-exploration, wireline services, spinner surveys.  In the year 1967 Oran achieved his boyhood dream with the purchase of a stock farm in Coryell County where he lived until his death, March 20, 1978, after a long battle with leukemia, buried at Santa Anna.  Oran was very active in the Baptist church and the Masonic Lodge.

Jimmie Sue, was born May 26, 1926, in Santa Anna.  She married Tommy Lee Orr of Keller, in 1948.  They had one child, Cherisse Suzanne, born January 23, 1950, died August 2, 1971, buried in Fort Worth.  In 1966, Jimmie Sue married Jack Hulett.  Jack died July 27, 1976, buried in Coleman.  Jimmie Sue lives in Fort Worth.
