I was born November 19, 1923 in Coleman County in the old house purchased by my grandfather Isaac Keeney (see Isaac Keeney) in the early 1900’s.  I attended Lone Star and Cross Roads schools.  I entered the United States Army February 19, 1943 and was discharged December 13, 1945.  I married Betty Ruth Guinn, September 8, 1945 in Phoenix, Arizona, born September 22, 1930 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Arthur Dolphus Guinn, born September 20, 1903 in the Oklahoma Territory - died April 5, 1982 in Manteca, California, buried in Ajo, Arizona, and Ethel Elsie King, born March 22, 1910 in Globe, Arizona - died March 10, 1970 in Globe, Arizona.  Betty attended Licensed Vocational Nursing School and worked as a nurse in Coleman until 1976.  I worked at Superior Cable Corporation in Brownwood for nine years.  I am now retired and live in Santa Anna.  We have three children:
(1) Sherlyn Ruth, born August 14, 1946 in Santa Anna, graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1964.  She married (1st) Emmit Simmons, January 16, 1964, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer (Bud) Simmons of Santa Anna.  A son, David Loren, was stillborn June 22, 1964.  They were divorced in 1966.  She married (2nd) Ivan Rayburn Chesser, son of Hazel and Howard Chesser of Mullin.  They had a daughter, Sherlyn Rhena, April 25, 1969 in Brownwood.  They were divorced in 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama.  She and Rhena returned to Santa Anna in 1976.

(2) James Arthur (Jim) May 15, 1948 in Santa Anna, attended Santa Anna Schools; entered the United States Marine Corps in September 1966 and was discharged in January 1970.  He married (1st) Patricia Ann Katelnikoff, May 5, 1970 in Brownwood, the daughter of Fred and Sophie Katelnikoff of Kodiak, Alaska.  They had a daughter, Carie Ann, January 21, 1971 in Brownwood.  They were divorced in September 1972.  Jim married (2nd) Kathryn Don Daniel, March 28, 1974 in Brady, born October 7, 1953 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Troy and Janet Daniel of Brownwood.  Their four children were born in Brownwood: Jennifer Lyn, June 30, 1971; Jerald Daniel, February 6, 1974; Jamie Leigh, June 11, 1978 - died June 13, 1978 (buried in Babyland at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Brownwood); and James Ryan, July 25, 1979.  Jim worked for Superior Cable Corporation in Brownwood for about 5 1/2 years.  He was a butcher for several years and now operates a service station in Santa Anna.
