The Bourland Family

     Perry Nelson Bourland was born in Dallas. Texas, April 21, 1921, the son of Luther Lyle (Cooter) Bourland and Vela (Love) Plante.  Luther Lyle was the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Bourland, who were in the piano and sewing machine business.  Mrs. Bourland was very faithful in the First Baptist Church in Coleman.  Vela was the daughter of J. Ed and Anna (Lock) Love (see J. Ed Love). Luther and Vela had another son, Jackie Love.  Perry Nelson moved to Coleman in 1942 from Brownwood where he had lived eighteen years.  He worked for Craig's Butter Crust Bakery, Elliot's and McClure's Bakeries.  He married Ileta Lorene Cope, December 11, 1942, in Coleman (see Jacob Henry Cope).  They had three children:

     (1) Cecelia Estella, married Dan R. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Williams of Coleman.  They have two children: Rick and Leah, living in San Angelo;

     (2) Aaron Nelson, married Becky Owen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Owen of Hereford.  They have two children, Kyle and Nicole, and live in Lubbock.

     (3) Bryan Maurice of Coleman.

     Ileta is a housewite, an employee ot the First Baptist Church as nursery attendant for 21 years and Gold Bond Stamp Company for 11½ years.  Perry has been a self employed paint contractor in Coleman for 37 years.  They now own and operate the Harbord Motel in Coleman and are members of the First Baptist Church.

     Perry coached baseball in Little League, Teen Age and Semi-Pro for fifteen vears.  His teams have won 119 games and lost 47; runners up in district in 1966; district champions in 1967 and entered the State Tournament in Waco, losing to Waco 1-0.  His team's tournament records are 7 wins and 6 losses.

Sons:
     G. W. Bourland had a brother, John Cornelius, 1869 - October 17, 1935, and his wife, Frances L., 1870-1947, who made Coleman their home and buried in Coleman. Children:

     (1) Francis U., August 7, 1894-July 18, 1959, buried Coleman.  He was a veteran of World War I. 

     (2) Forest B. 

     (3) J. C. (played football at Coleman High). 

     (4) C. G.

Daughters:
     (5) Mary Ellen (Lykins) May 9, 1883 - May 12, 1951, buried Coleman.

     (6) R. B. (Mrs. Roy L.) Harrington.

     (7) Effie (Mrs. David) Brown.

     (8) Lelma C., 1909-1968, buried in Coleman
