Blalock on the 1870 Wood Co. census, with wife Emily. Believe him to be the same Milton R. Blalock who married Mary Jane OSBORN, daughter of Jonathan Osborn, who is also on the 1870 Wood census, with her parents. Bible records indicate that Milton and Mary Jane were married June 26, 1873. After their daughter, Mary Reese, was born in 1879 (and there may of been at least one more child prior to Mary Reese), Mary Jane died. Mary Reese was "adopted" by her uncle, John Griffin Osborn, and can be found on the 1880 and 1900 census of Parker Co., Tx. Family lore says that after Mary Jane died, Milton R. remarried and believe this is the same Milton R. Blalock who married Sue M. MAYO, Feb. 7, 1881. Family lore says that Milton R. had been married at least once, maybe twice before marrying Mary Jane and that after her death he "went back to Wood Co., Tx., where he remarried.

They them moved back to Old Stonewall, OK. I can find no information about J.O. before he married my grandmother.

Looking for information on Levy and Susan H. KING. They were in Wood Co. in 1870 & 1880. Levy died in 1873 in Wood Co.

J.R. Hall, Jr. lived on a farm near Mineola and his wife and daughter were both shot to death in Illinois in 1923. By coincidence, the newspapers of 1923 in Wood County were lost in a fire too. I am searching for newspaper articles about the murders and also articles on J. R. Hall's death, whenever that was. Mr. Hall's granddaughter is still living and would very much like to find out more about her relatives and where they are buried.

They had no children at this time. In the 1880 Census they are living in Scott County, Mississippi with two children, William O Testerman and Ernest Testerman. The family next to them is William Cates, Susan's brother. I find W O Testerman in the 1910 census in Rains County Census 2nd Precinct Part 2 page 41B. In the 1920 census William O Testerman is living in Angleton, Brazoria County, TX. The census has William listed marriage as un and he has a son Lealand. Also in the 1910 census in Wood County, TX, C Testerman is listed as father-in-law to Lee Fowler and wife Bell, children Beside 2 yr.. and Lucille 4/12 yr. both born TX.

Surnames: ALEXANDER, SHUFORD Researcher:John Luckey Email:JHLKEL96@aol.com Date posted: Thursday, September 9, 2004 We, co-authors, are working on a second volume to Volume 1 of "Texas Burial Sites Of Civil War Notables" (published by Hill College Press, 2002). We have learned that there are two notables who are said to be buried in Quitman, Texas, but we were not able to find their names in the Wood County Cemetery record books. A. P. (Poindexter) SHUFORD was a delegate from Wood County to the Texas Secession Convention at Austin Texas in 1861 and cast a vote against secession. He went to the Confederate army as a second lieutenant in Company E, 22nd Texas Infantry. After the war, he was Attorney General of Texas. He was born in North Carolina in 1837 and the son of Eli R. Shuford (1803 - 1874) of Mineola, Wood County, Texas. Before the war he was a lawyer in Quitman. He died in 1874 or 1875 in Quitman, Texas. His brother, Pinkney, was a postmaster in Quitman. William Lee ALEXANDER was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and came to Texas. He became a president of Nacogdoches University at Nacogdoches, Texas. He resigned this position to enter the Confederate army. He was a captain of Company H, 4th Texas Cavalry which had fought in the New Mexico Campaign. He died in Quitman, Texas on January 29, 1870. He is well mentioned in the book, "The Confederate Army Of New Mexico". His portrait and family papers are in the University of North Carolina library.

The 1860 census shows her with her family in Knox Co TN. The 1870 census shows her in Titus TX as Dicy Wright 22 with son Joseph Wright 3 years old bn in TX. the 1880 census shows her as Dicy Awtrey with Joseph Wright and Robert Wright as step sons to Alfred Awtrey with their children. I know my Robert Wright married Minnie Ann Murphy 11-5-1896 in Wood Co however he died in 1907. She stayed there for a while with their 4 children as follows: Louis Marvin Wright m Nettie Irene Nichols Willie Edward m Beatrice Ruth Walker half sis to Irene Robert Franklyn m Lula Folmer Buena Dale m JT Neal Lennie or Terrie Bell only lived a year. She is burried with Robert Wright in Smyrna cemetery I also heard Dicy Awtrey is also burried there. Would also like to know if any one has any info on Joseph Wright her other son.
