Athens Weekly Review Thursday June 21, 1934 Felton Thomas, 20, Dies Following Long Illness Felton Thomas, 20, son of Mr and Mrs John Thomas of the Baxter Community, died early Friday morning following a three months illness. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock p.m. Saturday with interment following in the Alligator Cemetery. The deceased was born and reared in the Baxter Community in the this county. He is survived by his parents, one brother Reagan Thomas; two sisters Frankie Mae and Etherline Thomas. The deceased was a grandson of G. W. Breedlove.
Athens Weekly Review Thursday April 3, 1930 Mortuary James, the little five year old son of Mr and Mrs J. B. Jones (wrong name...should be Thomas) of the Baxter Community passed away Thursday at the family home. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 Friday afternoon by Rev. Mooney of Murchison, at Alligator Graveyard east of Baxter.
Athens Weekly Review Thursday April 10, 1930 Baxter Community News Baxter, April 1--The death angel again passed over our community last Thursday morning, March 27 and took away little James Wayne Thomas, 5 year old youngest son of Mr and Mrs. John Thomas. He was ill only a short time and news of his death came as a shock to the community. He is survived by his parnets, two sisters and two brothers, also his grandfather and numerous other relatives. Interment was in the Alligator graveyard. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mooney of Murchison. We are joined by the whole community in sympathy to the bereaved ones.
Athens Weekly Review Thursday March 6, 1941 George Breedlove Dies Saturday at Farm Home George W. Breedlove, 81 year-ol pioneer resident of Henderson County, died at 5 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of his son T. N. (Tom) Breedlove, in the Baxter Community. His death was attributed to the infirmities of age. He had been in ill health for several years. Funeral Services for Mr. Breedlove, who was one of the old settlers of the Baxter Community, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 farm house. Interment followed in the Alligator Cemetery on the Athens-New York road. Rev. J. E. White of Murchison was named to conduct the rites. Deceased was born on September 27th 1959 (mistake..should be 1859) at Macon, GA, but came to Texas early in life and had been a resident of this section for more than half a century. He is survived by one son Tom Breedlove, Baxter; two daughters, Mrs. Addie Crimm and Mrs. Fannie Thomas, both of the Baxter Community.
Athens Weekly Review Thursday 28 Aug 1947 Funeral Rites for Mrs. Dill Held, Burial at Baxter Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie Dill, 37, of Dallas, who died in a hosptial in that city Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock after a lengthy illness were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in Dallas. Burial was near Baxter Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The services were conducted by the Rev. Marvin Johnson of Athens. Mrs. Dill who was born in Waco and a member of the Baptist Church, is survived by her husband C. H. Dill, Dallas; one son Claude Thomas Dill and one daughter Dorothy Ann Dill, both of Dallas; father George Cupp; two brothers, George and Clarence and two sisters Mrs. Mabel Murff and Mrs Jewell Morrow. She was the daughter of Mrs. Anna Cupp, who was born and reared in Baxter, and the granddaughter of the late George W. Breedlove. Mrs. Dill visited in the home of an uncle, T. N. Breedlove, and with other relatives in Baxter each summer.
Athens Weekly Review Thursday December 4, 1941 Former Baxter Woman Dies in Mineola-Burial near Athens Mrs. J. R. (Docia) Morrow, 60, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. E. Streetman in Mineola Wednesday morning at 2:20, it was announced here Wednesday. Mrs. Morrow lived in the Baxter Community all of her life until 1928. Funeral services will be held in the First Baptist Church of Mineola Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with her son in law, Rev. R. E. Streetman officiating at the final rites. Burial will be in the old Alligator Cemetery in the Baxter Community, whre Mrs. Morrow spent the early years of her life. Time of interment has been scheduled for 1:30 in the afternoon. The English Funeral Home of Mineola and Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens have charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband J. R. Morrow, Mineola; a son J. H. Morrow, Port Arthur; two daughters, Mrs. R. E. Streetman of Mineola and Mrs. H. G. Shaw, Houston; one brother T. A. Hopper of Athens and give grandchildren.
Athens Weekly Review Thursday September 16, 1954 Baxter Funeral Services Held Here For J. R. Morrow Baxter, September 15--J. R. Morrow was buried here last Friday. He died September 9 on Thursday at Coleman. He with his family moved from here many years ago. He was 84 years of age.
