This place was visited by a good rain Friday morning which was needed very badly as the ground was so dry farmers couldn't plow.
Jess Rushing was stricken a few days ago with another stroke of paralysis and little hope is held for his recovery.
Last report from the bedside of Mrs. Noble Barr who is at Baylor Hospital is that she is now on the road to recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Check Boyd and babies of Athens are spending a few days with the latter's parents here.
Dolph Coburn and wife of Cross Roads spent Sunday at the Calvin Cothran home.
Ed Smith and family of Malakoff spent the week-end at the S. A. Ballard home.
Frank Speake butchered three very fine hogs Monday and put them on cold storage. Bros. Estes Lewis preached at this place Sunday evening.

New Hope Special Correspondence
New Hope, Nov. 5
Health of the community is fairly good except for colds and whooping cough, so far as the writer knows.
Most all the children that haven't had whooping cough, has it now.
C. W. Olson and Jimmie Rodgers went to Dallas Saturday and brought home Mrs. C. W. Olson and baby boy, C. W. Jr. who was born at Baylor hospital. Both mother and baby are doing nicely.
Jim Parker who was operated on for appendicitis at Jacksonville, is improving.
Miss Flora Anderson of Pine Hill spent the week-end here.
The marriage of Archie Bob Tindel of this place and Miss Margaret Smith of Chandler, which was announced last week was a surprise to their many friends. Bob was reared here is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Tindel. We wish them much happiness through life.
A fire broke out in the drying kiln at the Woodward saw mill one night last week, burning and damaging several thousand feet of lumber. It was put out before it spread to the rest of the mill.
