MCCOY / ALDER - According to probate record of Moses MCCOY, filed 3 Oct 1868 in Clay Co., MO, Moses' wife and children were living in Henderson Co., TX at the time. Their names were: Surinna (Lurina?) ALDER MCCOY (2nd wife), James MCCOY (from 1st marriage), John Morgan MCCOY and Carrie MCCOY. Another child may have died on the way or shortly after arrival. We suspect they were sent to TX as a result of Civil War Order No. 11. According to family lore, James MCCOY at some time made his way back to MO (even though a child) to be with his father. He eventually ended up living and dying in Wharton Co., TX. Would like to know what happened to Surinna and other children. Thanks.
