Pioneers Rest Cemetery Index

Pioneers Rest Cemetery is Fort Worth's oldest community cemetery with burials dating back to 1849. It has also been known by other names such as City Cemetery, Old Cemetery, Old City Cemetery and Samuels Avenue Cemetery. It is often confused with Oakwood Cemetery as it was also known as City Cemetery or New City Cemetery in its early days.

Pioneers Rest Cemetery, compiled by Weldon Hudson and Barbara Knox, was published in 2001 by the Fort Worth Genealogical Society. This book contains the inscriptions from the headstones and information from the sexton's records, plus selected obituaries, biographies and photographs. For the price and ordering information, visit the Book Store on the FWGS website.
