His Excellency, the governor,
Sir,
My object in addressing you is to inform you that one Mick Overly, alias Anthony Overly did in cold blood, without any cause or provocation kill one Henry T? Smalley, Esq. a Constable in said county on Sunday the 17th day of October last, and in the name of the citizens of said county to ask you excellency to offer a reward for the arrest of the said Overly, who is said to be in the limits of the state and a fugitive from justice. He is by profession a gambler, a thick set, round face, black eyes and hair, is about five feet six or 8 inches high weights about 150 pounds and is fond of dress. Is very ignorant and drinks freely. Is known to all in the western portions of the state and is noted for having been pardoned during the War with Mexico at Camargo, for having hindered some Mexicans by account of his youth.
