NOTES Thomas' father died of Typhoid in Mississippi when Thomas was not quite 2 years old. His widowed mother brought her family to Leon Co. when her parents moved there in late 1854. Columbia came to Leon Co. in a wagon train from Mississippi when she was about two years old, about 4 years after Thomas' family came. Columbia's father died in the War of Northern Agression when she was about five years old. Her mother died of pneumonia when she was about nine years old and she and her little brother (whom her father never saw) lived with Columbia's widowed grandmother, Polly Lee Graham, until she married Thomas at the age of 13. Thomas died before his youngest daughter was born. Columbia gave birth to 10 more children by her second husband. |
