Biography of: Wright B. & Americus Halyard TAYLOR

Wright B. Taylor and wife, Americus (Halyard) Taylor, came to Texas from Todd County, Kentucky. In 1855, they settled on the land where the Taylor Cemetery is located, acquiring vast acreage.

The Taylor descendants have sold the land except for reserving 1/2 acre plot occupied by the family cemetery, and with specific rights of ingress and egress at all times. (Houston County Deed Records, Vol.65, pages 355-356) .

Take FM-227 west from Grapeland township and go approximately 7 1/2 miles then veer left on FM-2544 and travel approximately 4 1/2 miles to property on which cemetery is located. Property is on left hand side of road and cemetery is situated considerable distance from road, according to Nettie Brown who submitted for Sesquicentennial edition.
