A. M. Newbill
Mr. A. M. Newbill is a through Texan. He was born in
Anderson County, January 12, 1893. At the age of five years
he went with his parents to Van Zandt County and it was in that
county that he secured most of his schooling. He finished
his high school course there and after fitting himself for the
work, he taught school for six years.
In December 1911, Mr. Newbill came to Henderson County and has
remained here ever since. He began as a bookkeeper with the
Williford Lumber Company in 1920 and is still with that company.
Mr. Newbill is one of the popular city commissioners, serving his
first term. He is active in all Democratic councils.
He is recognized as one of the progressive and outstanding
young Democrats of Henderson County.
Mr. Newbill was married in 1914 to Miss Ella Hambrick. They
have two daughters, Imogene, eight years old and Geraldine,
three.
In the matter of lodge affiliation, Mr. Newbill is somewhat
active. He is a Mason and K. of P. being prominent in the
affairs of both institutions. He is a past master of the
local lodge.
Mr. Newbill is a singer of considerable ability, being frequently
invited to sing a leading part. He is interested in the V.
O. Stamps Music Company.
Mr. Newbill, being a young man, was within the draft age for
service during the late war. He was not called for service
owing to classification, but he was ready to go if he had been
called.
