The Kinship of Families has done an
excellent job of preserving family histories and the history of Luna,
Freestone County, Texas. Anyone doing research in this area of Freestone
County will benefit.

The Kinship of Families is a factual
newsletter that chronicles the lives of a group of related Freestone
County families. The stories are sometimes sad, sometimes hilarious, and
often heartwarming; they are always written with knowledge and integrity.
The folks of TKF digs it out, documents it, then delivers it to our front
door.

I have just read my first edition of The Kinship of
Families and I was enthralled by the story of the Hardins and
Porters. As I was reading the about the gunfight, I could easily picture
it, as if my mind was watching a movie created by the words my eyes were
reading. I can't wait for the next issue to see how the trials turn out!

I would like to take this opportunity to recommend The
Kinship of Families. This publication is very professionally
done. In addition to instructional material concerning how to do research;
the publication includes much primary material. The material is always
thoroughly researched and documented. Modene treats all material with the
respect and dedication due our ancestors. I rank The Kinship of
Families with any family genealogical publication.

Each time The Kinship of Families arrives
in my mail, I drop everything and read it from cover! I just have to read
it and see if I can discover another "gem" of information:
another ancestor for my family tree! I have discovered several ancestors
via this publication, plus the wonderful stories that give me a glimpse
into some of my family members lifestyles in the 1800's is so thrilling.
True dramas that were featured in past articles were a continuing
courtroom case about murder, an Indian massacre of a family, a love letter
from a young man to his sweetheart, a young girl's diary and an ongoing
series of GRANDPA SAID... Each article is thoroughly researched and well
documented. The examples and 'how to' tips are a tremendous benefit to
beginning and seasoned researchers. I highly recommend The Kinship
of Families to researchers who have ties to Freestone County.
However, this publication is not limited to only Freestone County. It
includes allied families who may be from other areas, too!

Since I am a fairly new (1992) family searcher, I have
subscribed to quite a few periodicals to help me in family researching. I
hoped to gain knowledge on how to search as well as to gain information to
complete my "missing links". I feel The Kinship of
Families is produced with the highest caliber of professionalism,
and has accomplished these goals for me. There is a variety of published
material in each issue, encouragement to others to learn more about their
family and ancestors, and a sharing of information with one another to
break down some of those brick walls. I look forward to every issue, enjoy
reading each and every article and section. Due to TKF's dedication and
commitment to remembrance of family and ancestor, I feel the writing is
with a great deal of love and respect for those who have come before us.
TKF has encouraged me to be a better and more thorough researcher, and I
would rank The Kinship of Families as high or higher than
many of the other family newsletters or periodicals I have seen and/or
subscribed to in the past few years.
