Elsie P. Cate, 83, passed away on October 22, 2004 in Tucson, Arizona after a lengthy illness. Burial took place at Oak Lawn Memorial Park in Corvallis, OR on October 27. She was buried beside her beloved husband, Tommy Cate. They were married for 61 years. Mrs. Cate was born on November 19, 1920 in Streetman, Texas and was a graduate of Streetman High School. Mrs. Cate is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Rodney and Pat Cate of Tucson, granddaughters Brandi Potter of Kirkland WA and Shani Cate of Olympia WA. In addition, she is survived by 5 great grandchildren: Teysha, Colter, and Christopher Potter; Lars and Cayden Leibenguth.
Mrs. Cate lived in Sudan, TX from 1941 to 1991. She moved to Ames, Iowa in 1991 to be near her son and moved again in 1995 to Tucson AZ. However, she always considered Texas and Sudan as her home. Mrs. Cate was actively involved in the First Baptist Church of Sudan for 50 years. She took most pride in her child, grandchildren and their husbands, and her great-grandchildren. Her unconditional love will be greatly missed by family and friends.
