Febr Term County Court Freestone Co. Minutes
1. Ordered by the Court that the County Treasuer allowed five per cent for
reciing and disbursing All moneys under his Controll.
2. On a Settlement with the County Treasuerer The County is found debtor to Said
Treasuerer in the Sum of ($8.14/00 Eight dollars and fourteen Cents.
3. Ordered by the Court that the Worthams Ferry Road be Changed as
follows—Beginning at a point designated by David H. Love to run to the N. W.
Corner of the Corn League running with N. W. Boundary to intersect former
reviews.
4. Ordered by the Court that on the 13th day of March A. D. 1852 the
Commissioners will convene in order to receive proposals for the building of a
Jail in the Town of Fairfield for the use and benefit of the County.
5. Ordered by the Court that the order of review of the named reviewers (viz) J.
F. Huckaby Charles Kilgo, Jas. Burlison and W. W. Dickson be received.
6. Ordered by the Court that Wm. Davis be appointed Overseer on the first
District from Fairfield to the upper Corner of the field where Said Davis
resides.
7. Ordered by the Court that John Thomason be appointed overseer on the 2nd
district.
8. Ordered by the Court that P. J. Hale be appointed overseer on the 3d distrit.
9. Ordered by the Court that Jas. Burlison be appointed Overseer on the 4th
district.

10. Ordered by the Court that John Whitt take the job of furnishing the District
and County Clerks with a Save or Book Case and table for each with locks, hinges
and shutters covered with bridge and pigeon holes to comprehend the Alphabet and
to have it down by next Regular Term of County Court said services to receive
$40.00 for.
11. Ordered by the Court that David H. Love make a press and District Clerks
Seal for which said Court promises to pay him fifteen dollars; Also a County
Clerk’s seal (providing Zeno P. Clough has not sent to Houston for one) for
which said Court will allow said Forty-Six dollars.
12. Ordered by the Court that the rates of Ferriage of Micajah Bateman be the
same as last year.
13. Ordered by the Court Micajah Bateman pay four dollars as Ferry Tax.
14. Ordered by the Court that the County Tax for Freestone County for the
present year be at the rate of four cents per One Hundred dollars.

Second Day
1. Ordered by the Court that Robt. Eppes be reappointed overseer to work (the
road leading from) all that portion of the road east of Caney Creek, leading
from Fairfield to Corsicana.
2. Ordered by the Court that Jas. McMillan be appointed overseer on the
Fairfield and Corsicana Road—Beginning at Caney Creek & work to the Navarro
County line.
3. Ordered by the Court that Alex Choat be appointed Overseer in place of W. R.
Aligree On Springfild and Fairfield to Boggy Road and the road From Dr.
Aligrees.
4. Ordered by the Court that Milton Busby be appointed Overseer in place of Robt
Ro___ in 3rd District.
5. Ordered by the Court that A. Hendrix be Appointed overseer
on the Road leading from Fairfield to Springfield—to work from Fairfield to
Aligrees (1st district)
6. Ordered by the Court that the County Treasurer deliver to Chas. W. Lewis his
note of $37.50/00 Thirty seven dollars fifty cents. Exectuted to the County for
a certain Lot in the Town of Fairfield.
7. Ordered by the Court that there be fifteen dollars appropriated to the
purpose of flooring the Bridge Across Browns Creek, near McCreights.
8. Also that the same Amount be appropriated to the same purpose of Completing
Bridges at the three following places to wit—One on the road leading from
Fairfield To Springfield at the Crossing on Caney Creek.
One On the Caney Creek and one on the Tyhuacana at the Crossing of Fairfield and
Corsicana Road. The above mentioned fifteen dollars to be paid by the County
Court on Condition only that Citizens shall make a good and Substantial Frame at
each of the last named points as good as the one now across Browns Creek at the
aforesaid point on Fairfield and Troy road.
9. Ordered by the Court that Robert Gordan Jas. McCreight and W. W. Blackmon be
appointed a committee to let Contract and receive Bridge (first mentioned in
order i.) when completed.
10. Ordered by the Court that Benj. Philpot be appointed on the road leading
from Springfield to Navarro, from said Philpots to Burlisons hill.

5. Ordered by the Court that A. Hendrix be appointed overseer
on the Road Leading from Fairfield to Springfield—to work from Fairfield to
Aligrees (1st district)

road from Troy to East prong of Browns Creek & to build one half the Bridge over
said Creek.
16. Ordered by the Court that Wm M. Blackmon be appointed overseer on the Troy &
Fairfield road to work from East prong of Browns Creek to Fairfield & to build
one half the Bridge Across said Browns Creek.
17. Ordered by the Court that Manred Stroud be appointed overseer on the Troy
and Corsicana Road to work from Troy to County line.

Term of County Court for 1853.
3. Ordered by the Court that the Wortham Ferry Road be so changed from from
Waldrums the Crossing at Black’s Mill at the Centerville Road Thence to
McDonalds Tract of Land from that to the Ferry on the Trinity River.
4. Ordered by the Court that Chandler be appointed overseer on the road leading
from Fairfield to the County line towards Centreville and work all the hands on
Browns Creek Between said Road and Keechie.

5. Ordered by the Court that E Clements be employed to make
Jury Boxes No. 2 & 2.
6. Ordered the Court that Jno. Bell be appointed overseer in place of John
Teague taking his hands & bounds.
7. Ordered by the Court that John Whit be allowed to Cancel the deed which he
holds to Lot 2 in Blk 9 in the Town of Fairfield and take in Lieu thereof the
whole of Blk 5 and also that the said Whitt be allowed to cancel his note given
for the sad Lot and give in Lieu thereof a new note for $15.50 cents more than
the original note.
8. Ordered by the Court that John N. Claypool be allowed three days services at
$1.50 per day.
9. Ordered by the Court that P. S. Black be allowed one days services $1.50.
10. Ordered by the Court that W. W. Dickson be allowed one days services $1.50
per day.
11. Ordered by the Court that Nelson Tarver be allowed three days services $1.50
per day.
12. Ordered by the Court that Green McDonald Come forward and give Bond for a
Ferry across the Trinity River in Lieu of Micajah Bateman.
13. Ordered by the Court that Elisha Hobbs be allowed three days service at
$1.50 per day.
