Vital Records
How to order vital records for Floyd County or other Texas county vital certificates and records: Texas Vital Statistics, Texas Department of State Health Services. To purchase online through the Texas Vital Statistics, there are some strict regulations:Birth Certificate: Births within the past 75 years are considered protected records and therefore you can only order your own birth certificate or your child's birth certificate.
Death Certificate: Deaths within the past 25 years are considered protected records and therefore you can only order if you are the surviving spouse, parent or legal representative.
Marriage & Divorce Certificates: The Texas Vital Statistics can only send a verification letter stating whether or not the marriage or divorce was issued in Texas. If you want the marriage or divorce certificate you will have to contact the county clerk's or county district clerk's office.
Keep in mind that birth and death certificates were not required in Texas before 1902 and birth certificates are very spotty before World War II, especially in rural areas.
You can get birth and death certificates through the County Clerk & District Clerk's offices by providing the correct identification such as a valid driver's license.
