1201 South Concho Street
Coleman, Texas

Legal Description:  part of Block 18 of Clow's Second Addition to the town of Coleman

A vacant lot is shown at what would become 1201 South Concho Street on maps of 1923 and before.

The Will Broad home was built at 1208 South Commercial Avenue about 1910 or before.  Between 1923 and 1930, the house was moved from this location to 1201 South Concho Street, because, according to the family, this part of South Concho Street was paved and Commercial Avenue was not, and the water line had been extended on South Concho Street.  When the house was moved, it was rotated 90 degrees, so the side that faced east when it was on South Commercial Avenue, faced north after it was moved to South Concho Street.  These addresses are both in Block 18 of Clow's Second Addition, with 1208 South Commercial Avenue being on the northeast corner of the block, and 1201 South Concho Street being on the northwest corner.

"In 1929, William M. Broad, and his wife Belle, were residing at 1201 South Concho Street.  He was a cattleman.  (Note:  An alternate address for 1201 South Concho Street was 1202 South Concho Street, which must have been an earlier address, before the 1928 addressing plan was put into effect.)"   (Coleman City Directory, 1929 - Hudspeth.)
