In 1909, this large two story dwelling, with one story room on the
west side, and porches located on the east side and northwest corner, was
located at what was to become 416 - 420 South Commercial Avenue, with West
Walnut Street on the south side. Different street addresses or identifiers
were in use at this time. The alley was located on the west side
of this location, between South Commercial Avenue and Concho Street between
1904 and 1909. The big "8-9-10" indicate the lot numbers. This
address of 416-420 South Commercial Avenue seem to have always been used
at this location, with a struction covering these three lots. |

The dwelling on lots 8, 9 and 10 had changed none between 1916 and

as an auto filling station, repair, washing and greasing, had been built
at this location. |

Beach Service Station was located at 416 - 420 South Commercial Avenue.
Alton R. Beach was the manager. He dealt in Fisk tires, Texaco products,
auto laundry. Their telephone number was 428. Harry T. Caton
(wife, Ione M.) was a salesman for the service station. They lived
at Santa Anna, Texas. Arthur D. Kennedy worked at A. G. Beach
Service Station as a salesman. He, and his wife Adie M. are shown
rooming at 332 West Cedar Street (There appears to
be no such address.) Wilbur Sheldon, who was rooming at 820
West Needham Street, was also a salesman at A. G. Beach Service
Station." (Coleman City Directory, 1929
- Hudspeth.)

At some time after 1948, the open half on the north side of 420 Commercial
Avenue was bricked in, leaving an open driveway of only 25 feet on the
Commercial Avenue side of the service station.
