The R. P. Ward Furniture Store was located at what would become 115 South Commercial Avenue.

In 1908, H. N. Beakley and Sons Hardware and Furniture was located at 113 South Commercial Avenue and Horne and Beck Hardware was located at 115 South Commercial Avenue.  Only a small portion of the building at 115 South Commercial is seen on the upper right.

The Horne and Beck Hardware Store was organized by J. A. Horne (father of Robert and Jack Horne) and Oscar Beck when they bought a store located at 115 South Commercial Avenue owned by H. N. Beakley and Sons in 1907.  In 1918, Horne bought the interest of his partner and later purchased the Beakley building at 113 South Commercial Avenue.  Horne operated the business until his death in February 1936.

In September 1941, Robert Horne purchased the Horne Hardware store at 113-115 South Commercial Avenue from his father's estate.  He had worked in the store for over nine years.  From that time until 1941, it had been operated by the Horne estate, which included the ranch and store properties had been operated by Mrs. J. A. Horne and sons, Robert and Jack.  Jack devoted his time to the ranching business after Robert purchased the store.  The hardware store closed a few years later.

After Robert Horne had purchased the buildings and business a new brick front was added to the store front at 113-115 South Commercial Avenue, as noted by the "H's" in the brickwork at the top of the building.  However, separate businesses operated in the two buildings for many years.

About 1991, the buildings located at 113 South Commercial Avenue and 115 South Commercial Avenue were combined and became known as 113 - 115 South Commercial Avenue.

A small restaurant, serving primarily soups and salads, called Sara's Neighborhood, rented space in the building which had been known as 115 South Commercial Avenue with its entrance through 113 South Commercial Avenue.  The restaurant was owned and operated by Sara Sue Taylor Kirkley.  She had previously been located in a space inside 114 East Pecan Street.  In the fall of 2009 Sara's Neighborhood moved to 1116 North Neches Street.
