Mahdeen Needham Bolton, 85

Mahdeen Needham Bolton of Coleman 9 died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  Graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7 at White Chapel Cemetery with family members officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.  Family visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Mahdeen Needham on February 28, 1922 in Coleman, a daughter of John Newton Needham and Lula Mae Fenton Needham.  She grew up in Coleman where she also attended school.  On September 15, 1935 she married Sam Bolton in Coleman.  He died on October 26, 1992.  Mrs. Bolton was a homemaker and for several years owned Mahdeen's One More Time Consignment Shop in Coleman.

Survivors include five daughters, Sherry Mayfield and husband Windel of Brownwood, Rita McAlister and husband Jerry of Coleman, Jo Foster and husband Robert of Abilene, Cindy Donald and husband Bill of Bridgeport, Tonya Stratton of Valera; four sons, Sammy Bolton of Coleman, Jack Bolton and wife Mary of Coleman, Danny Bolton and wife Janet of Brownwood, Bud Bolton of Kerrville; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Maggie Needham Jerden of Pottsboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, thirteen brothers and sisters, a daughter, Tammy McDorman in 2002, and a grandson, Wesley Clifton in 1988.

Clyde Dwight, Jr., 89

Clyde Dwight, Jr., of Coleman and formerly of Shamrock, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Coleman County Medical Center.  Family visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman and will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bailey-Ware Funeral Home in McLean.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church in McLean.  Burial will be in the McLean Cemetery in McLean.  Arrangements in Coleman are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home and in McLean are under the direction of Bailey-Ware Funeral Home in McLean.

Clyde Dwight, Jr. was born May 31, 1918 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the son of late Clyde, Sr. and Lena Ruth Gray Dwight.  He grew up in McLean and graduated from McLean High School.  He was in the United States Army Air Corps, serving with the 15th Regiment in Italy.  He was an Engineer on the B-17 Flying Fortress and flew over 350 combat missions.  He received the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Four Oak Clusters and a Purple Heart.  He married Louise Nix on April 9, 1941 in Sayre, Oklahoma, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage.  He was an oil pumper for a number of years and was a welder and blacksmith in Shamrock for 37 years and moved to Coleman in 2005.  He was a Mason, member of the Disabled American Veterans and the First Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Dwight of Coleman; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dr. Paul Moran of Coleman; five grandchildren, Jennifer Henry and husband, John, of San Saba, Joel Moran of Levelland, Jason Moran and wife, Lori, of Coleman, Jarrod Moran of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Jamie Ruth Moran of Levelland and 11 great-grandchildren, Tara, Alicia, John, Joseph, Samantha and Victoria Henry all of San Saba, Tiffany Chapman of Levelland, Megan and Emily Moran, both of Coleman, Heather and Jonathan Moran, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, David Dwight and Robert Dwight and one granddaughter Michelle Moran.

Memorials may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
