Randall
Paul “Randy” Waterbury, 52, of Graham, Texas passed away Friday,
February 2, 2007 in Denton, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled
for Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Morrison Funeral Home
Chapel with Reverend Lonnie Davis of Azle, Texas officiating.
Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison
Funeral Home. Randy
was born August 6, 1954 in Long Beach, California to Van and Ann
(Williams) Waterbury. He married Mary "Elaine" Proctor on
December 29, 1998 in Breckenridge, Texas. Randy was a member of
the Lake Granbury Christian Temple and was a truck driver for West Fork
Tank Trucks. He was a veteran of the United States Marines having
served two terms in Vietnam. He was a former resident of Granbury. Survivors
include his wife, Elaine Waterbury of Graham; mother; Ann Waterbury of
Coleman; daughters, Patsy Davis and husband Steven of Burleson, Louann
Lozowski and husband David of Graham; sons, Michael J. Waterbury and
wife Christe of Santa Anna, Michael E. Alls and wife Tina of
Springtown; sister, Mary Hall and husband Mike of Coleman; brothers,
Earl Waterbury and wife Lynn of Midland, Van Rancelear Waterbury, Jr.
and William Henry Waterbury of Syracuse, New York; half-sister, Reba
White of Phoenix, Arizona. Twelve grandchildren also survive. Randy’s father Van Waterbury, his first wife Jacquelyn Waterbury and a grandson Michael Cole Waterbury preceded him in death. (Coleman

Onard Rice, 95, of Granbury, died Friday, February 2, 2007 at Wise
Regional Hospital in Decatur. Graveside funeral services will be
1:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007 at the Glen Cove Cemetery with Rev.
Daniel Stovall officiating. Services are under the direction of
Stevens Funeral Home. Mr.
Rice was born October 15, 1911 near Sulphur Springs, Texas, the son of
William Rice and Anna Leona Pierce Rice. He grew up and attended
school in Cimmaron, Kansas. He married Bessie Inetha May on
January 18, 1943 in Dallas. He worked for North American Aviation
when World War II started and retired from LTV after 30 years, working
as an aeronautical machinist. He was a member of the Masonic
Lodge #705 in Arlington. Survivors
include his wife, Bessie Rice of Granbury; two daughters, Carlene Rice
Shupee' and husband George, of Arlington, Dr. Kathleen Rice of Austin;
one brother, Truman Rice of Carlsbad, California; four grandchildren,
Stephen Shupee' of Arlington, Craig Shupee' of Chicago, Illinois, Jarod
Shupee' of Arlington, Lindsey Shupee' of Arlington and several nieces

Anna Mae "Tae" Gann, 91, of Coleman, died Friday,
February 2, 2007 at Coleman County Medical Center. Graveside services will be
2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Glen Cove Cemetery with Rev. Ted
Willis officiating. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.
Tae Gann was born November 12, 1915 in Coleman, the daughter of Robert W. Starnes and Mattie Neilous Starnes. She married Allen E. Gann in 1941 in Cross Plains. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1999. She lived in Santa Anna before moving to Coleman in 1976. She was a bookkeeper and a Methodist.

Betty E. Green, 74, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Stamford, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2006. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, Texas. Anna
St. Clair Johnson, 44, of Coleman, died Monday, February 5, 2007 at her
residence. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The body will be cremated. She
was born Cecilia Anastasia St. Clair on July 20, 1962 in Arlington,
Texas, the daughter of Evelyn Shelton St. Clair and the late Robert P.
St. Clair. She grew up and attended school in Arlington.
She moved to Coleman 1983 and worked in the Human Resources Department
for the State of Texas. She attended the Seventh Day Adventist
Church. Survivors
include two sons, Joey St. Clair of Abilene, Jonathon Nevels of San
Diego, California; one daughter, Elizabeth Garner of California; her
mother, Evelyn St. Clair of Arlington; four sisters, two brothers, one
grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers. (Coleman

Eugenia Hartsfield Pittard, 91 of Voss, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ferris Akins officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She
was born in Valera, Texas on December 22, 1915 to George Washington and
Agnes Eugenia Hartsfield Pauley. Her mother died when she was a
baby, and her father then married her mother's sister, Lee Hartsfield,
who raised Eugenia. Eugenia attended school in Valera and
graduated from Coleman High School at the age of 16. She attended
Simmons College in Abilene and received a Bachelor of Arts degree,
majoring in Latin and minoring in English and Math. She began her
teaching career in Leaday in 1935. She met Louis Pittard at a
Halloween carnival at Brown Ranch in 1938. After four more years
of teaching in Brown Ranch, Gouldbusk and Valera, the couple was
married on July 19, 1942 in the Valera Baptist Church. Their
first home was in Big Spring, where Louis was employed at the Big
Spring Bombadier School, but they moved back to Coleman in 1943.
In 1948, the couple moved to their farm in south Coleman County near
Mozelle. Eugenia resumed her teaching career in the Mozelle
Schools, where she taught until 1979. Except for a few years away
to care for each of her small children, Eugenia's teaching career
spanned 44 years. Eugenia was an active member of the Delta Kappa
Gamma chapter and the Retired Teachers Association. She was
an active member of the Voss Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday
School for over 30 years. Her love for her Lord and her church
was evident to all who knew her. She lived a remarkable 91 years
and was ready to meet her Lord when the day arrived. She was
preceded in death by her parents, George and Lee Pauley, two brothers,
Chet Pauley and Andrew Pauley of McCamey and sister, Lucille Horne of
Coleman. She
is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis Pittard of Voss, three
sons and daughters-in-law, Knox and Pam Pittard of Bedford, Gary and
Lee Ann Pittard of Tyler, Robert and Cindy Pittard of Corinth; one
daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Rodney Smith of Abilene; eight
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Steven and Belinda Pittard
and their children, Preston Knox and Presley Kate of Plano, Kirk and
Lisa Pittard and their children, Wyatt and Chloe of Fort Worth; Amy and
Shayne Wormsbaker and their children, Ashtyn and Abby of Keller; Dr.
Aaron and Jennifer Pittard and their children, James and Thomas of San
Antonio; Gina Wilson and Seth Pittard of Corinth and Matt Smith and
Jennifer Smith of Abilene. A
proud mother and grandmother, Eugenia s greatest joy was spending time
with, and serving, her family. Family visitation will be from
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007 at Stevens Funeral

born October 26, 1922 in Coleman County and passed away Wednesday,
February 7, 2007 at her residence. Family visitation was held

Laura Johnson of Gouldbusk died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Gouldbusk Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Gouldbusk Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born Mary Laura Insall, the daughter of Eric and Sarah Smith Insall, on April 6, 1914 in Leander. She attended school at Soul’s Chapel and married Odis J. Johnson on December 19, 1937 in Elmdale. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2005. She lived in Taylor County for several years before moving to Coleman County in 1971. She taught Sunday School for many years, was a homemaker and a member of the Gouldbusk Baptist Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gayle Johnson of Gouldbusk; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and James Marchant of Ochoee, Florida; one brother, Carroll Insall of Livingston; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. L. Watson age 86 of Coleman, Texas passed away Monday, February 12,
2007 at 11:20 p.m. at the Coleman County Medical Center. Services
will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Interment will follow at the
Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of
Coleman. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30
until 7:00 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. John
was born on January 14, 1921 in Lawn, Texas to the late Luscious
Marshall and Mollie Edna Hunt Watson. He was raised in Lawn where
he attended schools moving to Coleman where he resided for 35
years. On June 10, 1949 John married Wilma Irene Dobbins in
Brownwood and they celebrated fifty five years of marriage. Wilma
preceded him in death in 2004. John served his country as a
corporal in the United States Army during World War II. He was a
member of the Baptist Church and a retired Trucker. Survivors
include four daughters, Brenda and husband Gary Benson of Coleman,
Texas; Pam Searcy of Coleman, Texas; Karen and husband Charley Van Pelt
of Coleman, Texas; Gina and husband Mark Bruner of Sweetwater, Texas;
two sons, Jim and wife Raylene Watson of Coleman, Texas; Randy
and Amanda Watson of Brownwood, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 16 great

Dawson Connelly was born on August 14, 1944 in Ballinger, Texas.
He died February 15, 2007 at the age of 62 years, 6 months and 1 day,
in Leland, North Carolina. He was cremated on February 21, 2007
in Wilmington, North Carolina. He
is survived by his children: one son, Robert Dawson Connelly, and one
daughter, Carolyn Michelle Connelly, both of Leland, North Carolina;
his mother, Bobbie Franklin Wagnon and step-father, F. M. Wagnon, Jr.;
four sisters, Doris Hebert of Meridian, Texas, Barbara Perez of
Youngsville, North Carolina, Wanda Gutierrez of Abilene Texas, and
Linda Hall of San Angelo, Texas; and one brother, L. D. Franklin,

Edith Odell Toombs died February 16, 2007 at the age of 96. Visitation
will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Stevens Funeral
Home. Graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday,
February 20 at Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Joe Hailey
officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Edith
was born in Rising Star, Texas on November 15, 1910, to Arthur Lee Toombs
and Elizabeth Josephine (Goss) Toombs. She began her teaching career
at the age of 18 and taught in several small schools in central Texas.
A firm believer in the importance of education, she held a B.A. degree
from Sul Ross State College with a triple major in English, Spanish and
Education and a minor in music. She earned a Master’s Degree in
English from the University of Texas with a triple minor in Spanish,
music and education. During World War II she worked for two years as a
translator (from Spanish to English) at the Laredo International
Bridge. After the war ended she worked for two years as a laboratory
technician for a petroleum company based in Corpus Christi. When
Laredo Junior College was organized in 1947, she was hired as an
English professor. She retired 28 years later in 1975. She served as
head of the English Department for 24 years of those 28 years. She was
held in high esteem by her colleagues and students and remembered as
"cool, calm, efficient and consistent." "She had a very sharp mind"
said one student, and "she knows more about your abilities than you
do," said another. She was named LJC’s Teacher of the Year for five
consecutive years in the 1960's. In addition to her teaching and
administrative duties she sponsored the college newspaper for many
years and was sponsor of the Phi Theta Kappa college fraternity for
more than 20 years. Reflecting on her career she is quoted as saying,
"The biggest reward in teaching, I believe is the contact with the
students. They keep you young. I feel that I've done a service. I'm
done a job that is worth doing." She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters. She is survived by eight nieces and nephews, eighteen great nieces and nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers were nephews, Jim Ray Hudson, Terry Poe, Larry Moberley, Ben Moberley, and Kerry McWilliams. (Coleman

Ms. Joe Rutherford Grant died Saturday, February 17, 2007 in DeSoto, Texas. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20 at First Baptist Church in Coleman with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born February 6, 1914 in Whon, Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of Sam and Addie Parolee Rutherford. She grew up in Whon, attended school there and graduated from Rockwood High School. She was married to Ellie "Sam" Grant on April 13,1933 and he preceded her in death. Joe retired after working for a number of years as a secretary at First Coleman National Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman and the Eastern Star. She moved to DeSoto several years ago to be near her children. Survivors include two sons, Gene Rice and Kenneth Grant both of Duncanville, Texas; five grandchildren, Belinda Rice Horton, Mickey Rice, Scott Rice, Michelle Grant, Raymond Grant; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. Jo Griffin, age 81, of Gatesville, passed away Saturday, February 17,
2007 at a Temple hospital. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday afternoon at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville with
Rev. Wesley Covey officiating. Burial was in the Monahans City
Cemetery. Juanita
was born July 19, 1925 in Gouldbusk, Texas the daughter of Ellis
Ashburn and Irene Barker Ashburn. Juanita married Louis Griffin
on April 11, 1943 at Pyote, Texas. They lived in Wickett,
Monahans and Lake Brownwood before moving to Gatesville in 2002.
She worked for many years in the Monahans School District as a special
education aide. She was a member of the Gatesville Revival
Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Ray
Griffin. Survivors
include her husband, Louis Griffin of Gatesville; sons, Leo Griffin and
wife Jimmie of Springtown, Jackie Griffin and wife Janie of Fort Worth
and Ellis Griffin and wife Trini of Arlington; daughters, Evelyn
Kennedy and husband Larry of Gatesville and Virginia Britton and
husband Don of Odessa; a sister, Geneva Bell of Lake Brownwood; 13

Billie Marie Miller, age 84, of Coleman, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Coleman County Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jeff Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Billie Marie Miller was born January 9, 1923 on the Rafter 3 Ranch in Coleman County, Texas, a daughter of J. P. "Jake" Miller, Sr. and Mary J. Jameson Miller. She grew up on the ranch, attended school in Coleman, graduating from Coleman High School in 1940. Billie Marie was the first Rodeo Queen for the Coleman Rodeo in 1937 and again in 1939. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and Texas Tech University. On September 20, 1942 she married William H. "Bill" Miller in Coleman and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1987. Billie Marie and Bill moved to Rapid City, South Dakota in 1947 where they ranched until 1986, when they returned to Coleman. While living in South Dakota, Billie Marie was a rancher, a homemaker, worked in Occupational Therapy and was an active member of First Baptist Church. After returning to Coleman, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Coleman County Water Board, Garden Club where she served as president and Cattlewomen's Association, also serving as president. She is survived by three daughters, Marie Miller of Coleman, Ann Miller of Apache Junction, Arizona and Julie Miller Shaw and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Ann Miller Hargett and husband James of Coleman; five grandchildren, Jason Best, Sara Best Gonzales, Callie Best, James Shaw, John Shaw; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Joseph Shaw and Connor James Shaw; several nieces and nephews. Love Evans, age 101, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Holiday Hill
Nursing Home. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday,
February 23, 2007 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jeff Miller
officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery
under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Mamie
Love Evans was born February 23, 1905 in Coleman County, Texas, a
daughter of Lucien Clay Love and Nellie Gray Tweedle Love. She
grew up in Coleman, graduated from Coleman High School and attended
Southern Methodist University where she studied art and music. On
October 6, 1928 she married Lamar Evans in Coleman and he preceded her
in death in 1968. During their marriage they lived in Washington,
D.C., St. Paul Minnesota, and Dallas, Texas before returning to
Coleman. Mamie was a member of First United Methodist Church
where she served many years as Librarian, Sunday School Kindergarten
teacher. She was a member of Bettie Morris Circle, member of the
Eastern Star, UMW and Friends of the Library. She
is survived by several nephews, including Lucien Love of Coleman, Bob
Craig of Highlands, Bill Shaw of San Angelo; several nieces including
Jane Love Hitt of Tulsa, Mari Anne Craig of Ingram, Ann Blair
Charlesworth of Burleson, Marilyn Craig of Highlands, Mary Eckert of
Mason. Memorials

Joe Carroll Nation, 62, of Ballinger
passed away Monday, February 19, 2007, at Shannon Medical Center in San

Mr. Nation was born April 25, 1944, in Palestine, Texas, to Joel Chambers "J. C." and Lula Franklin Nation. He married Harriet Moser April 9, 1971, in Palestine and attended several Texas colleges and universities, achieving a master’s degree in education. Devoting his life to the education of children, he was employed with various Texas school districts for 33 years, including five years at Coleman as junior high school principal and curriculum director. He was curriculum director with Ballinger Independent School District and retired as assistant superintendent in 1999. He was a member of 7th Street Baptist Church and Ballinger Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; by his son, Kyle of Richland Hills; and
by a brother, David Nation, and wife Corrinna of Lake Worth.

Samuel
Charlie Jones, 85, of Coleman, died Monday, February 19, 2007 at
Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. Funeral services will be
2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Stevens Funeral Home with Sam
Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Shields Cemetery,
under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Sam
was born January 31, 1922 in Santa Anna, Texas, the son of Charlie H.
and Annie C. Elliott Jones. He grew up in Mozelle and attended school
in Mozelle and Rockwood. He married Mildred Mae Eppler on February 15,
1940 in Coleman. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2001. He worked
in the oil field as a pumper and truck driver in McCamey and Kermit
before moving back to Coleman in 1980. He attended the Hillcrest Church
of Christ. Sam is survived by his children, Wanda L. Whitton of Kermit,
Kenneth M. Jones of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; Brenda Ainsworth of
Odessa, Cindie Preston of Odessa; nine grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. We was preceded
in death by his wife, one daughter, Patsy Stack, three sisters and two
grandsons. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Charles Ainsworth,
Michael Preston, Kory Jones, Travis Corbell, Daniel Sluder, Wanda Byrd,

Macelle
T. Williams age 88 of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Monday, February
19, 2007 at 8:05 p.m. at the Coleman County Medical Center.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Anna
Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Bruce Hess officiating, under the direction
of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. The family will receive
friends Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Macelle
was born June 29, 1918 in Sumner, Mississippi to the late Thomas Azmond
and Peralee Hope Teer. She was raised in Mississippi where she
graduated from the Pope Schools. On May 24, 1937 Macelle married
David Aylmer Williams in Water Valley, Mississippi and they celebrated
celebrated 42 years of marriage. David preceded her in death in
1979. Macelle was a resident of Santa Anna since 1996 moving here
from New Mexico. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a
retired sales person with Sears Roebuck retiring in 1979 and had been
employed with Bloomfield Schools in New Mexico as a special education
aide. Survivors
include three daughters, Kay Johnson of Santa Anna, Texas; Pat Morris
of Santa Anna, Texas; Dai Long of Dawson, Texas; one son, David
Williams of Aztec, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; fourteen great

Waide Messer of Memphis, Tennessee, former pastor in Santa Anna, died February 20, 2007 in Winberley, Texas. Funeral
services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, at First Baptist
Church in Canyon with Rev. Mark Bryant officiating. Burial was held at
Llano Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee on March 3. A fund is being set up at Santa Anna National Bank for the family of Waide Messer. Donations to help with traveling expenses would be appreciated. |

Mary E. Ebinger, age 78, of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania (formerly of Coleman) passed way on Friday, February 23, 2007 at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held at First United Church of Christ, Route 61 South, Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27 with Rev. Ms. Shawn Van Dyke officiating. Entombment will be held privately at the convenience of the family at Haven Mausoleum, Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc. of Schuylkill Haven is in charge of arrangements. She
was born on Sunday, July 1, 1928 in Coleman, Texas to the late John F.
Henderson, Jr. and Elizabeth (Henson) Henderson. Mary was a 1945
graduate of Coleman High School and attended Texas Christian
University. She was a member of First United Church of Christ in
Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania and was a devoted wife and loving
mother. She was also a member of the Daughters of The
American Revolution. She was married to Robert E. Ebinger
for 58 years. Mary was a direct descendent of the Woodward and
Henderson families of the Coleman area. She was preceded in death
by aunts, Irene Henderson and Belle Henderson and an uncle, Roy Henson. Survivors
include her husband, Robert E. Ebinger of Schuylkill Haven
Pennsylvania; three daughters, Elaine Miller and her husband William
of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, Theresa Luckenbill and her
husband Craig of Wayne Township, Pennsylvania and Elinda Lado and
her husband Dr. Michael of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania; and eight
grandchildren. The

Roy Elkin, 74, of Coleman, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Coleman
Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday,

Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. Lee
Roy Elkin was born February 6, 1933 in Coleman, the son of Ralph and
Irene Taylor Elkin. He grew up in Coleman and graduated from
Coleman High School. He served in the United States Army from
1953 to 1955. He worked for the Coleman County Electric Co-op as
warehouse manager, retired from the Coleman Volunteer Fire Department
and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors
include one daughter, Kay Wilson of Coleman; one son, Cliff Elkin of
Irving; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Glen McDonald of
Coleman; one brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Tammy Elkin of Rule;
three grandchildren, Heath Wilson and wife Rebecca, of Midland, Nance
Wilson of Coleman, Victoria Zelenak and husband, Andy of Grapevine;
three great-grandchildren, Brady Wilson of Midland, Becca Wilson and
Colton Holland both of Grapevine; aunts, Blackie Stevens of Coleman,
Doris Lobstein of Bangs and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Elkin. Family
visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25,

Doyle Roberts died at Brownwood Regional Hospital on Monday, February 26, 2007. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Wednesday, February 28, at Hillcrest Church of Christ with Sam Wilson and Terry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Valera Cemetery under direction of Walker Funeral Home. The
son of Alfred and late Jessie Roberts, he was born March 3, 1939 in
Coleman. Doyle lived in Coleman County until about 15 years ago
when he moved to Brown County. He was a member of Hillcrest

F. (Pete) Rutherford age 85 of Santa Anna, Texas passed away Tuesday,
February 27, 2007 at 2:57 p.m. at the Coleman County Medical Center
following an automobile accident. Services will be Friday at
11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Hess and Rev.
John Stanislaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa
Anna Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Santa
Anna. The family will receive friends at Henderson Funeral Home
Thursday from 6 until 7 p.m. Pete
was born July 3, 1921 in Coleman County to the late Oscar Vernon and
Addie Edna Anderson Rutherford. He attended the Anderson Schools
and graduated from Coleman High School. On February 18, 1942 Pete
married Winnie Alice Tucker in Santa Anna and they celebrated
fifty-nine years of marriage. Winnie preceded him in death in
2001. He served his country with the Army during World War
II. Pete was a lifetime resident of Coleman County and member of
the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna 60 years where he served as a
Deacon. Pete worked as a caterpillar operator with Santa Anna
Silica Sand for 20 years and retired in 1985 from 3 M Corporation of
Brownwood. Survivors
include two sons, Don Rutherford of Arlington, Texas; and Joe
Rutherford of Grape Creek, Texas; one brother, R. V. Rutherford of
Liberty, Texas; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Pete
was preceded in death by son Larry Rutherford in 1992 and by a sister
Lucy Mauk in 1994. Deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as

Dee Daughtry, 97, of Coleman, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at

Dee Daughtry was born November 3, 1909 in Eddy, McLennan County, Texas,
the daughter of Thomas Elgain Daughtry and Carl Josie Whitfield
Daughtry. She graduated from Coleman High School and Mary Harden
Baylor at Belton. Flora Dee taught school for 10 years in Coleman
County, one year at Camp Colorado and nine years at the Folk
School. She was also the church secretary at First Baptist Church
for 49 years and was the church organist for 51 years, retiring in
April, 1990. She was very active in the church, having directed
choirs, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, worked in
W.M.U. and served on all regular church committees. Following her
retirement, Flora Dee filled in as the church organist on occasion when
needed. Flora
Dee is survived by numerous cousins, including, Peggy Parvin of
Midland, Corinne Keilers of San Angelo, Grover Arnold, Jr. of Dallas,
Ellen Kemp of Coleman, Major Dee Whitfield of San Angelo, Dee Will
Keilers of Ozona, Patsy Powell and Ann Wilson of Coleman. Memorials

Longacre Coffman, 96, of Coleman, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at

Kathryn Longacre Coffman was born September 27, 1910 in Dothan, Eastland County, Texas, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Kate Augusta Telford Longacre. She grew up and attended school in Potosi. On August 31, 1932, she married David E. Coffman in Lawton, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2005. She moved to Novice in 1946, Albany in 1961 and returned to Novice in 1971. She was a member of the quilting club in Novice and the Elm Street Church of Christ. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Ozaine Coffman of Silver Valley; one daughter and son-in-law, Nell and Arnold Lefevere of Coleman; five grandchildren, Shannon Lefevere of Coleman, Steven Wayne Coffman and wife Sue, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Robert Paul Coffman and wife Christy of Arlington, Rachelle McKinnon and Katelynn McKinnon, both of the Arnold Lefevere home in Coleman; adopted grandson, Daniel Harrell of Nashville, Tennessee and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and three brothers. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the funeral home. Marcile Carey Thompson, age 75, died February 28, 2007 in
Houston. Graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m.
Sunday, March 4 at Silver Valley Cemetery with Rev. Gary Tapley

Home.
She was born September 15, 1931 in Colorado City, Texas. She was the widow of Glynn D. Thompson who died in September 1988. She was a member of Long Point Baptist Church in Houston where she was active in the Gleaners Club. Survivors include her daughter, Judy L. Provezis and husband Steve; grandchildren, Zachary and Jessica Provezis; siblings, Sarah Vaughn and David Carey; many other loving relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry D. Thompson in April 2000.
