Two Killed in Wreck Tuesday Near Burkett

Coleman emergency workers, including the Coleman Fire Department, EMS, Sheriff's Department, and Highway Patrol were called out at 8:24 p.m. Tuesday evening after a one-vehicle wreck was reported near Burkett.  Upon arrival, emergency workers found a 2000 Mercury Marquis with two deceased adult males inside.  One of the victims was from Cross Plains, and the other was from Tye.  The wreck had occurred approximately three miles north of Burkett on State Highway 206 on the east side of the road.  The actual time of the accident is not known, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.  A volunteer fireman from Cross Plains found the wreck, and called for help.  But at this time, there is no report of anyone witnessing the accident, and so the actual time of the wreck has not been placed.  Coleman firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the victims from the vehicle, and Justice of the Peace Nance Campbell was on the scene to pronounce the victims as deceased.
