Thelma Baker Younglove Cox, age 84, of Coleman, died Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Coleman County Medical Center. 
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Burkett Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Gary Boyd officiating, assisted by Rev. John Stanislaw.  Services were under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cox was born March 14, 1916 in Burkett, Texas and was a daughter of James A. Baker and Lilhie Cason Baker.  She grew up in Burkett and attended school at Rae.  In 1936 she married Alton Younglove and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1969; she married EaIey Cox on October 1, 1971 in Aransas Pass, Texas.  She lived in Bay City for three years, Aransas Pass from 1947-1985, at which time she moved to Coleman.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ealey Eugene Cox of Coleman; a son, Billy Younglove of Canton, Texas; three daughters, Pat Miley of Willis, Texas, Peggy Baker of Aransas Pass and Janet Wright of Lake Livingston; one step-son, Rev. Cecil Cox of Brownwood; two step-daughters, Dovie Diann Deahn of Brownwood and Lovella Adams of California; four sisters, Essie Hunter, Madie Burton and Ovella Harris, all of Coleman and Ronnie Winslett of Brownwood; seven brothers, J. C. Baker of Lovington, New Mexico, Tony Baker of Vernon, Howard Baker of Coleman, James Baker, Bob Baker and Ed Baker, all of Brownwood and Jerry Baker of Odessa; 14 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Davis.

Alice Lenore Titsworth lvey of Maryville, Tennessee, died February 1, 2001 in Maryville.  Services were held Monday, February 5, 2001 in Maryville.

She was born October 8, 1924, in Valera, Texas to Sanders and Fannie Titsworth of the Valera and Coleman area.

Mrs. lvey is survived by one son, Orval Lee lvey; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Maryville; one sister, Jessie Rae, of San Angelo.  Other survivors are nephews, Marvin and Larry Titsworth of Coleman and Bill
Rae of Odessa, and nieces, Joyce Moore of Merkel, Faye Rae of San Angelo, and CIeo Cude of Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Orval lvey; two brothers, Floyd and Ralph Titsworth; and one sister, Eunice Cude. 

Marvilla Miller died Saturday, February 3, 2001, at her daughter's residence in Kingsland.  Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Wayside Cemetery (south of Cisco) in Eastland County.  Rev. Elmer G. Nickell will officiate.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Miller was born May 3, 1925 in Mangum, Texas and was a daughter of Robert Pharr and Zola Napier Pharr.  She grew up in Eastland County and attended school at Romney and Cisco.  She was married to John Miller and had lived in the Brownwood, Cisco and Coleman areas most of her life.  She was a supervisor at Boss Glove Factory in Brownwood and also worked at a garment factory.  She was Pentecostal.

Survivors include her husband, John Miller of Brownwood; four sons, Roger Fields of Gillette, Wyoming, Kenneth Fields of Cisco, Daniel Fields of Vernon and Willie Hunt of Seagoville; one daughter, Brenda Galyean of Kingsland; four sisters, Drucilla Carey of Lubbock, Georgia Mary Curtis of Fort Worth, Wanda Hayes of Coleman and Beulah Luebbe of Staplehurst, Nebraska; one brother, Glenn Pharr of Little Rock, Arkansas;. six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

M. Tennessee Purcell, age 97, of Archer City, Texas passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2001, in the Archer City Nursing Center.  Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City with Roger Deerinwater, pastor of First Baptist Church of Archer City, officiating.  Burial followed in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds
Funeral Home.

Mrs. Purcell, the daughter of the late Frank and Lilhie Brown, was born January 4, 1904 in Brown County, Texas.  She and Homer Purcell were married April 4, 1920 in Burkett, Texas.  He preceded her in death on October 1, 1980.  She was also preceded in death by eight brothers, five sisters, two sons-in-laws, and one great-grandson, Scotty Purcell.  She was a homemaker and had worked at different cafes tnroughout her lifetime and kept the church nursery while living in Olney, Texas.  She had lived in Archer City Nursing Center since January 1994.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Archer City.

Survivors include two sons, frank Purcell and his wife, Lois of. Kermit, Texas and Homer Purcell and his wife, Faye of Bangs, Texas; two daughters, Dorthie Hill of Abilene, Texas and Jaunita Sheppard of Archer city, Texas; one sister, Loucille Morgan of Coleman, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Melrose Brown and Lennie Purcell, both of Bangs, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jerry Purcell, Johnny Purcell, Myrl Hill, Billie Hill, Jimmy Sheppard, Pat Sheppard

Mr. Johnny Leon Hobbs, age 68 of Winters died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at 6:48 p.m. in Coleman County Medical Center.  Services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lu Wilson, a Baptist minister of Dublin officiating.  Interment will follow in Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Hobbs was born September 22, 1932 in New Castle, Texas to John and Abbie Moses.  He married Helen Chew in Dublin on June 21, 1992.  He was retired from the oilfield, was a member of the Assembly of God Church and had lived in Winters since 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Hobbs of Winters; two daughters, Patricia Moore and Darla Dela Rosa both of Coleman; two sons, Billy Hobbs of Anson and Ricky Hobbs of Baird; three step-daughters, Carla Woods of Bronte, Diane Overstreet of San Angelo and Connie Pullin of Kerrville; one stepson, David Hargrave of Bronte; one sister, Katria Davis of Olney; one brother, Everett Hobbs of DeLeon; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry.  Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.  Family visitation is tonight (Tuesday) from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home.

Patricia Ann (Lanham) Tomlinson, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Coleman, passed away February 6, 2001.  A memorial service was held Saturday, February 10, at 11 a.m.

She was born May 8,1944.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Sherman; one daughter, Stacy; two sons, William Victor and Tray Scott; two granddaughters, Sydnei and Devyn, all of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Sandra Burns and Carolyn Hammonds, both of Coleman; and a great-aunt, Bonnie Jameson, also of Coleman.

Ozell Parish, 83, a homemaker, died Tuesday, February 7, 2001,in White Settlement.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Castleberry Baptist Church with burial to follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park.  Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road, is in charge of arrangements.  Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Ozell Parish was born August 25, 1917 in Coleman County.  She was a longtime member of Castleberry Baptist Church. 
Ozell was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred; and brother, Clarence Stafford.

Survivors include sons, Carl Parish and wife, Patricia, of Fort Worth, and James Parish and wife, Sandy, of Houston; daughters, Virginia Helton and husband, Robert, of Weatherford, and Linda Lamb and husband, Roger, of Houston; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Callaway of Odessa.

Sidney E. Dalton, 76, of Gouldbusk, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Smith officiating.  Burial was
in the Coleman Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Dalton was born August 19, 1924 in Gouldbusk, a son of Samuel Horace Dalton, Sr. and Effie Clara Self Dalton.  He was reared in Gouldbusk and graduated from Mozelle High School.  He was a rancher, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Carter Dalton of Liberty Hill, Texas; two sisters, lmogene Evans of Denton and, Anna Walker of Big Spring; four nephews, Lee Dalton of Liberty Hill, Texas, Sam Dalton and Ron Dalton of Dallas, Joe Evans of Denton; two nieces Sharon Griffith of Denton and Regina Pitt of Crum, Texas; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Sam Dalton, Jr.  Pallbearers were Billy Jack Wilson, Bruce Estes, Ken Pope, Jay Lynn Dalton, Vernon Slate and Van Row.

Sandra Hamilton Proctor, 66, a retired teacher, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at a Granbury hospital.  Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.  Burial was in Holly Hills Memorial Park in Granbury.  Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice, 2501 Parkview Drive, Suite 600, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.

Mrs. Proctor was born April 6, 1934, in Coleman, where she graduated from high school.  She married Billie Proctor on July 4, 1961, in Coleman.  She received a Bachelors Degree at North Texas State University and a Masters Degree from Tarleton State University.  Mrs. Proctor taught school at Burleson ISD for 21 years before retiring.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thorp Spring where she had served as treasurer for the past six years.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Billie Proctor of Granbury; two daughters, Patricia Bowen and Pamela Smith, both of Granbury; two sons, Rev. Michael Proctor of Baytown and Mitchell Proctor of Burleson; five brothers, Guy Hamilton of Corpus Christi, Bill Hamilton of San Angelo, James Hamilton of Lincoln, Nebraska, W. R. Hamilton of Waco and Lee Hamilton of Coleman; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd Gay, 96, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at the De Queen (Arkansas) Regional Medical Center.  Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Harold Brewer officiating.  Burial was in the Redmen Cemetery.

Mr. Gay was born in Brutus, Kentucky and married Irene TaIIey in 1929.  He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen.  He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include a son, Elmer Gay of Coleman; a daughter, Joyce Greenwood of Exeter, New Hampshire; a sister, lva Trent of Hartford, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

John Ames Newman died February 8, 2001 in his Raywood, Texas home after an extended illness.  Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow at Coleman City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Cornell Plantations in Ithaca, New York.  Family visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Coleman.

He was born August 12, 1921. in Cleveland, Ohio to Ruby and F. R. Newman.  He attended Hawken and University Schools and was Captain of the hockey team prior to graduation from high school in 1939.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1943 from Cornell University.  Mr. Newman moved to Texas after college to work for Atlantic Oil Refining.  In 1946, he accepted a position with Shell Oil in oil and gas exploration.  In 1953, Mr. Newman became an independent oil and gas operator.  During his career he was founder and President of Southwest Gas in Raywood, Texas.  He was also the primary owner and operator of the water and gas companies in Hull and Daisetta, Texas.  He maintained a second residence for many years in Coleman, Texas.  Mr. Newman participated in oil and gas exploration and production in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.  He was a longtime registered petroIeum engineer and a 50+ year senior member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.  Mr. Newman was a member of Delta
Fraternity, a founding member of the Key Club of Houston, a long time member of the Cornell Club of Houston and a member of the Cornell University President’s Council.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Roy Newman and Ruby Pauline Ames; and his wife, Mary Frances Newman of Coleman in 1996.

Survivors include three children, Diane Gruel of San Marcos, California, Susan Fleming of Joplin, Missouri and William Newman of Joplin, Missouri; and two step-sons, Larry Keatts of Denver, Colorado and Mark Keatts of New Braunfels, Texas.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Wilds of Greenwich, Connecticut; a niece and nephew.

Arvill Burnett, 75, of Santa Anna, passed away February 9, 2001 at his residence from a long illness.  Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on February 12, 2001 at Walker's Funeral Home, burial followed at Gouldbusk Cemetery.  Eulogy given by Terry Loyd.  Prayer given byJjames Priddy.  Visitation was Sunday from 5-8 p.m.

Arvill was born in Paragould, Arkansas on the 14th day of March 1925 to the late Andrew and Naomi Burnett.  Moving to California in the late 1944 where he met Frances Taylor on January 8th and married her on the 3rd day of March 1945 in Richmond, California.  The first few years of their almost 56 years together he worked at many jobs, but in 1947 he started at Ford Motor Assembly Plant in Richmond.  He followed the plant to Milpitas when it moved.  He worked as a relief man for 38 years until they closed.  Moving to Santa Anna in 1983 to be closer to all of his kids and In-Laws, the late Ernest and Virgie Taylor of Santa Anna.  He wasn't one to sit around, he worked for Terry Loyd's Construction for 6 years in Coleman County.  Before being home bound, many might have seen him in any cafe in Coleman County.  He loved going out to eat and visiting with friends.

Survivors include --- His wife, Frances Burnett of Santa Anna, one son, Orvill (Lyn) Burnett of Coleman, two daughters, Kay McGee and Corky; Brenda Crossno and Gaylen of Santa Anna, nine grandchildren,  Mardy Lyn of Arkansas, Frances of Missouri, Lynana of Florida, Tonya of Japan, Renee of Texas, Forrest of Texas, Tim of Oklahoma,  Kathy of Oklahoma, Jeramy of Texas; 21 Great Grandchildren, 1 sister Zola Fortner of California, 2 sisters-in-law, Ernestine Brooks of Coleman and Sherri Bertoni of Santa Anna, several nephews and nieces and many friends.

HE WILL BE MISSED.  He was preceded in death by his son Monty Gene in 1950, a granddaughter Tressa Frances, his parents and in-laws, 8 Brothers and 4 Sisters.  Pallbearers were Lynn Taylor, Hippie Gene, Elwayne Taylor, Monty Beard, Lee Bertoni and Pewee Taylor.

Rev. Howard Lee Smith, age 90, of Abilene, died Friday, February 9, 2001, at an Abilene medical center.  Services were 2:00 p.m. Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Abilene with Rev. Garland Wallace officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Hawley Cemetery.

Born March 12, 1910, to Benjamin Smith and Lizzie Widner Smith, he grew up in Coleman County in a family of six boys and two girls.  He became a minister in his early 20’s and pastored churches in Whon, Brookesmith, Meador Grove, Hedley, Tokio, Quanah, Hamlin, Brownfield, Grassland, Dalhart, Dodson and Olton.  He served as an associate pastor in his later years.  In 1930, he married Golda White.  She died in 1945.  He then married Laura Jane Gates in 1946 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996.  They had lived in Abilene for the past 14 years and were semi-retired.  Howard continued to work for the church as a part-time associate pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene of Abilene from 1988 until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Jane of Abilene: three daughters, Vernetta Graham of Abilene, Retha Clancy of Austin and Jamie Nesmith of Shallowater; nine grandchildren; a brother, E. J. (Bud) Smith of Big Spring; a sister, Cleta Gordon of San Antonio; as well as numerous nieces. and nephews; and several great-grandchildren and great- great- grandphildreh.

Dale Bradshaw, 73, of Abilene, died Saturday, February 10, 2001, in an Abilene hospital.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, Abilene with Todd Snyder and Less Jackson officiating.  Burial will follow in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Bradshaw was born at Calf Creek Texas and was a graduate of Aspermont High School.  He was a self-employed rancher and cattle buyer.  He moved to Abilene in 1950 from Guthrie, Texas.  He married Dorothy Fulton in Lovington, New Mexico in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Abilene: six daughters, Jan Scott of Sugarland, Mrs. Ronnie Godsey (Ann)
of Bridgeport, Mrs. Clayton Williams (Dana) of Chino, California, Mrs. Dion Rice (Nan) of Clyde, and Mrs. Todd Snyder (Lana) of Sweetwater; a step-daughter, Melissa Seaton of Angleton; one sister, Mary Ann Bradstreet of Lubbock: and
15 grandchildren.

Funeral for Delfino R. Cardenas, 81, of Mission Park, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at lglesia Bautista Sur Zarzamora.  Burial followed.  Mission Park Funeral Chapels South was in charge of arrangements.  Cardenas died Saturday, February 10, 2001.

He was born December 24, 1919 in Coleman.  His parents were Jose and Elvira Cardenas.

Survivors include his wife, Angelina Cardenas; a son Daniel Cardenas; daughter, Lydiana Muniz and husband, Matt; daughter Irma Ramon and husband Joseph; daughter Bianca Boyd; brothers, A. R. Cardenas of Brownwood, Gilbert, Tony, Tino and David Cardenas of Colorado, Andres from Eagle Pass; sisters, Rosita Cardenas of California and Luperita Cardenas of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jimmy Wayne Crane, age 55, a machinist, died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth. 
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2001 at White’s Funeral Chapel in Springtown.

Jimmy Wayne Crane was born November 6, 1945 in Coleman, Texas.  He had lived in Springtown since the early
1970’s.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Crane of Springtown; daughters and husbands, Linda and Earl Garrison of Azle; Melody and Don Barge of Azle; Charmin and Brett Crump of Fort Worth; and Vicki McCauley of Mineral Wells; son, Robert Lupton and wife, Tabitha of Springtown; thirteen grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Watson of Coleman.

Graveside services for James M. (Jim) Tucker, 82, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Santa Anna Cemetery with Rev. Bill Wells officiating.  Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood is in charge of arrangements. 
Mr. Tucker died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2001 in a Brownwood nursing home.

Born May 29, 1918 in Coleman, Texas, he was a retired rancher and a member of First Baptist Church, Lake Brownwood.  He was a lifetime resident of Coleman and Brown counties.

Survivors include a son, Dan Tucker of Sherman; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Janeen Tucker of Early; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Philip Estess of Lake Brownwood; eight grandchildren, Renea, Josh and Zack Estess of Brownwood; Brandy Smith and Daniel Tucker of Dallas; Jeannette Miller of Hamilton, Shane Tucker of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Jaclyn Tucker of Early; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Archie Tucker of Santa Anna; four sisters, Ruth Greer of Midland, Winnie Rutherford of Santa Anna, Marie Hutcherson of Dumas and Vivian Price of Lake Brownwood; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sebert and Winnie Davis Tucker and two brothers, Fred and Davis Tucker.

Shirley Coleman Linnell, 65, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2001 at a Fort Worth Care Center.  Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Chapel with burial in the Mount OIivet Cemetery.

Mrs. Linnell was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl L. MacDonald in 1999 and a son, James Luther Mayhew in 1956.

Survivors include sons, David Mayhew and Troy Mayhew, both of Azle, Randy Mayhew of Fort Worth and Darrell
Mayhew of Southlake; a daughter, Diana Hayslip of Florida: brother, Troy F. Coleman of Azle; sisters, Benito Hutto of Hurst and Janice Van Horn of Lake Worth; and 15 grandchildren.

Agnes Alford of Coleman died Monday, February 12 at Coleman County Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Long officiating, assisted by Rev. John Stanislaw.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at Stevens Funeral Home from 6:00 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday.

She was born in 1917 in Rising Star, grew up and attended school at Loss Creek and married W. A. "Bill" Alford in 1935.   He preceded her in death in 1981.  She had lived in Coleman for the past 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three grandchildren, Michael Alford, Kenneth Alford and Deanna McNally; three sisters, Thelma Sheffield, Bea Byerly and Jane Bennett; one brother, Aubrey Smith; six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Mary Terry.

Bonnie M. Daniels, 79, died Monday, Febuary 12, 2001 in an Abilene hospital.  Graveside services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Rev. Larry Baird officiating, directed by North’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Daniels was born in Santa Anna.  She married Alfred Daniels in Brownwood.  He preceded her in death.  She worked for Dr. Mills’ office and was a member of Abundant Life Apostolic Ministries.

Survivors include her two sisters, Doris Rushin of Hobbs, New Mexico and Bobbie Carroll of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.

GORMAN:  J. L. McDaniel, 82, died Monday, February 12, 2001, at a hospital in Abilene.  Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2001, at the Church of Christ in Gorman with Jim Hall officiating.  Burial was in the Murray Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.

He was born in Eastland County.  He married Mary Lee Etta Fleming in Carbon.  She preceded him in death.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.  He worked at Hood King Motor Company, the Eastland Soil Conservation office and was a farmer and rancher.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Katha Lynn McDaniel.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Joyner of Austin and Jenett Pierce of Fort Worth; two sons, J. C. McDaniel and Kenneth McDaniel, both of Carbon; a brother, Leao McDaniel of Abilene; and four grandsons.

W. O. "Dub" Barnett, age 85, of Coleman died Wednesday, February 14, 2001, at his residence.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Roberts officiating.  Burial followed at Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Barnett was born February 10, 1916 in Coleman County and was a son of Lonzo McMann Barnett and Melissa Elisabeth (Bessie) Lawrence Barnett.  He grew up in Coleman County and attended school at Rockwood.  During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army.  On June 3, 1950 he married Wanda Fay Dixon in Santa Anna.  He was a long-time carpenter and he worked with Artie Barnett building and remodeling homes in the Coleman area.  They also worked together as contractors for leveling and moving houses.  For many years he worked for Red Lumpkin following the road construction all over Texas, working as a heavy equipment operator and later driving his own water truck.  He was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.  One of his greatest enjoyments was rattlesnake hunting and he also loved farming.  He built the building, fences end playground equipment for Maw and Paw's Playground Day Care Center, which he and his wife owned and operated.  His daughter described him as the "biggest little man I know.  He’s small in stature but he's a giant of a man."

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Barnett of Coleman; five daughters, Caroline Barnett Jackson of Coleman, Bonnie Barnett Doss of San Antonio, Sharon Barnett Laws of Willow Park, Kay Barnett Faries of Coleman and Joy Barnett Dela Rosa of Angleton; four sons, Danny Oscar Barnett of Stephenville, Dennis Barnett of Sweeney, Douglas Barnett of Brazoria and David Bamett ot~Coleman; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Joyce Bishop of Brownwood and Lola Daylong of Austin; one brother, Lonzo McMann “Duke” Barnett, Jr. of Brownwood.

Pallbearers included grandsons - Robert Steven Jackson, Robert Doss, Michael Lee Barnett, Mack Eugene Faries, Shawn Dale Faries, Chad Laws, Tyson Daniel Faries, Danny Gene Barnett, Caleb Barnett, Landon Barnett Dela Rosa, Derek Glenn Barnett.  Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Neal Barnett and Roland Claud Barnett.  Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham Lane, Abilene 79602.

Roy E. Wilder, age 77, of Coleman, passed away in Abilene Regional Hospital at 6 am. Friday, February 16, 2001.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Boyd officiating, assisted by Rev. John Stanislaw.  Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Roy was born June 26, 1923 in Coleman, Texas, a son of the late Charlie and Maggie Green Wilder.  He had lived in Coleman all of his life.  On November 8, 1945, he and Geraldine Seals were married in Coleman.  He was a World War II veteran, serving 21 years in the U. S. Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant.  He worked with the Coleman Little League for over 10 years; was a member of the Coleman Country Club for over 30 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Coleman.  He managed the Goodyear Store in Coleman for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Wilder of Coleman; a brother, Billie Wilder of Coleman; his mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Seals of Coleman; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Mitchell of Abilene; niece, Rosemary Mitchell Henderson and husband James E. Henderson of Fort Worth.

Pallbearers were Jerry May, David May, Donnie Crye, Ron Carroll, Jimmy Hemphill, Rex Beck, Jerry Campbell, and Tom Walker.  All of the golfing friends served as trenorary pallbearers.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Churcn, Box 983, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Ben Arnold, 75, of Robed Lee, died Friday, February 16, 2001, in the Robert Lee Care Center.  Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Voss Cemetery, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

He was born December 12, 1925, and was reared in Coleman County.  In 1948, he married Frankie Posey in Coleman County.  Employed as a piano tech, they moved to Robert Lee 23 years ago.  He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Arnold of Robert Lee; one daughter, Jackie McClain of San Angelo; one brother, Preston Arnold of Abilene; three sisters, Modene Dodds of San Angelo, Mary Wireman of San Angelo, and LaIa Copeland of Coleman; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Molly Canady Shiflett, age 88 passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2001 in an Orange, Texas hospital.  Burial was in Dallas.

Molly was born February 25, 1912 in Content, Texas.  She graduated from Content High School in 1931.  She married Donald Shiflett and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Yarbrough and daughter-in-law, Liz; one sister, Ruby Howard of Big Lake; several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

O. B. Johnson, age 83, of Coleman, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2001 at Winters Nursing Home.  Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Brett Farmer of Blanco Church of Christ officiating.  Burial followed in the Burkett Cemetery, directed by Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born April 23, 1917 in Gouldbusk, Texas, the son of Robert M. Johnson and Polly Ann Nichols Johnson.  A resident of Coleman most of his life, he retired from Lone Star Gas Company in 1973.  On August 3, 1940, he and Mary L. Wright, were married in Coleman.  He served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the 125th Infantry.  He had a great love for horses and trained and broke them for many years.  Mr. Johnson was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson of Coleman; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bob Lester of Midland; two grandchildren, Angela Dawn Lester and Andrea Leigh and husband Doc Allison of Midland; two great-grandsons, Steffan Nicholas Jordan and William Dalton Allison, both of Midland.

He was preceded in death by one son, six sisters and four brothers.  Pallbearers were Bob Lester, Donald Williams, Jack Cosby, Roy Buse, Ed Smith and Ed Van Dalsem.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Opal Clearman, age 82, of Coleman died Saturday, February 17, 2001, at Coleman County Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Roberts officiating.  Burial will follow at Santa Anna Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clearman was born September 17, 1918 in Talpa, Texas and was the daughter of Oscar W. Calhoon and Nancy Ida McOueen.  She grew up in the Talpa area and attended school at Valera.  On April 1, 1975, she married Clay Clearman in Brownwood and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1995.  She was a homemaker and was waitress at the Westerner Restaurant for 15 years.  She was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.

She is survived by five granddaughters, Kimberly Halmon of Coleman, Ginger Bates of Portland, Oregon, Kelie Tidwell of Coleman, Jana Melendez and Jenny Mclntire, both of Arkansas; one grandson, Nathan Blaine of Coleman; one brother and sister-in-law, Mural and Mae Calhoon of Clyde; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Halmon, in 1992.

Maudie Porter, 95, of Bronte passed away Saturday, February 17, 2001 at an area nursing home.  Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burkett Cemetery in Burkett, Texas with James Paul Bailey officiating.  Arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home of San Angelo.

She is survived by two sons, Carlos Porter of San Angelo and Charles Porter and wife Joyce of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Wayne Wisener, age 67, of Coleman died Saturday, February 17, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Glen Cove Cemetery with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Wisener was born September 20, 1933 in Coleman and was a son of Richard Parmly Wisener and Essie Lee Davis Wisener.  He grew up in Coleman and attended school here.  He was formerly married to Elvira Schulte.  He was
a tool pusher for Santa Fe Drilling Company and was a Mason.  Four years ago he moved to Zephyr.

Survivors include one son, Audie L. Wisener of Zephyr; two daughters, Lisa Weathersby of Kemp, Texas and Mitzi Jean Wisener of Brownwood; one brother, Richard Wisener of Coleman; two sisters, Leona “Crickett” Wisener and Nita Hubbard, both of Coleman; three grandchildren, Randy Boyd, Nicole Weathersby and Jerrod Whitman.

Funeral services for Harvey A. Goodgion, 81, of Lake Brownwood, were held Saturday evening, February 17, 2001, at the Trickham Cemetery.  He died Saturday morning, February 17, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  A memorial service was held Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the Trickham Union Church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. James Ford officiating.

Survivors include his wife, one son, one daughter, four grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.

Essie Lee Baker Hunter, age 94 of Coleman passed away Monday, February 19, 2001 at 6:30 a.m. at her residence in Rockwood, Texas.  Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating.  Interment will follow at the Burkett Cemetery.  Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman in charge of arrangements.

Essie was born in Burkett on April 4, 1906 to the late James A. and Betty labor Baker.  She was reared in Coleman County where she attended the Rae Schools.  Essie married Charles William Hunter, Sr. in Coleman, Texas on September 20, 1925 and they celebrated 67 years of marriage.  Charles preceded her in death in 1993.  They were residents of Coleman until 1955 moving to Shamrock and Anson and returning to Coleman in 1990.  Essie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Nichols Sunday School Class.  She was a member of the Coleman Eastern Star and past worthy matron of Anson Eastern Star.  She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Bryan of Rockwood, Texas, Aileen James of Coleman, Texas and Ann Stutzman of Mansfield, Texas; two sons, Charles Hunter of Coleman, Texas and John Hunter of Abilene, Texas; three sisters, Lilly Mae Burton of Coleman, Texas, Ovella Harris of Coleman, Texas and Janie Winslett of Brownwood, Texas; seven brothers,
J. C. Baker of Lovington, New Mexico, Tony Baker of Vernon, Texas, James A. Baker, Jr. of Brownwood, Texas, Robert Baker of Brownwood, Texas, Howard Baker of Coleman, Texas, Ed Baker of Brownwood, Texas and Jerry Baker of Odessa, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.  Family visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 till 7:30 PM at Henderson Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Henry Hunter,

August Francis Powe, age 83, of San Angelo, (formerly of Talpa) died at 10:04 am. Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Meadow Creek Nursing Home, San Angelo.  Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at Walker Fuperal Chapel with Rev. Kermit Srrells, retired Methodist minister officiating.  Burial will follow in the Talpa Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Powe was born August 2, 1917 the son of Oliver Powe and Mary Andrew.  He and Willie B. Martin were married on February 3, 1951, in Coleman County near Talpa on the ranch.  A resident of the Talpa area all of his life, he moved to San Angelo in 1991.  He was a veteran of World War II U.S. Army Air Corps.  Mr. Powe was a retired stock farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Talpa.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Powe of San Angelo; one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Mike Fullen of San AngeIo; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Kathy Powe of San Angelo; one sister, Esther Stacy of Coleman; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.  Pallbearers include Eric and Edward Fullen, Kenneth Martin, Gerald Wisener, Mike Fullen and Billy Powe.  Memorials may be made to Hospice.

Mr. Russell Hayden Stevenson, age 60 of Coleman died Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 5:20 p.m. in Coleman County Medical Center.  Services were held yesterday (Monday) at 2:00 p.m. at Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Bill Roberts pastor of North Coleman Baptist Church officiating.  Interment was in Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Stevenson was born September 11, 1940 in Lubbock to Dorothy Billington.  He married Elaine Smith in Coleman November 29, 1972.  He had lived most of his life in Coleman, was retired from the City of Coleman and was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.

Russell is survived by his wife, Elaine Stevenson of Coleman.

Joe Fenley Flack of Houston, father of The Rev. Joan Flack Rudolph of Coleman, died Thursday, February 22, 2001.

Mr. Flack, the son of Frank Houghton and Evelyn Fenley Flack, was born February 23, 1921 in Menard, Texas.  He was a graduate of Ball High School in Galveston and graduated from the University of Texas magna cum laude with a BBA in accounting.  Mr. Flack was on the freshman football team in 1939 and was captain of the track team in 1943, and a member of the crosscountry team.  He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and an active member of Kappa Sigma Alumni.  He was a World War II veteran, serving as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy.  He fought at the European front at D-Day, as well as in the Pacific Theater.  Mr. Flack served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American General Insurance Company, for over 35 years.  He later served as Chief Finance Officer for Harris County until his retirement.  He was former Mayor of Bunker Hill Village, a member of the Spring Branch ISD. School Board and board member of the Salvation Army.  He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for over 50 years and was a member of the River Oaks Country Club.  His public concerns were exceeded only by his many private kindnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Terry Flack; son, Joe Fenley Flack, Jr. of Austin and wife Patty Flack, and their sons, Joe Fenley Flack Ill and John Peter Flack; daughter, Kate Flack Scott of Houston and husband, W. W. (Woody) Scott, and their children, Dr. John Robert Scott of Detroit, Michigan and his wife, Bethanne, and Anne Scott Ebert of Galveston and her husband, Andrew Ebert; daughter, The Rev. Joan Flack Rudolph of Coleman and husband, Baker, and their children, Jennifer Rudolph of Houston, Ben Rudolph of Alpine and Patrick Rudolph of Fredericksburg; and his brother, Frank Clack and wife, Alleen of Sugar Land.

Following a family graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery, a Memorial Service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2001 at Luke’s United Methodist Church in Houston with Dr. James W. Moore officiating.  The family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army, 1717 Congress, Houston, Texas 77002 or to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Houston, Texas 77027.  The Settegast-Kopf Company of Houston was in charge of arrangements.

Eva Sanchez, age 80, of Coleman, died Friday, February 23, 2001 at Coleman County Medical Center.  Funeral Mass was held at 3:00 pm. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Cyr officiating.  Burial followed at Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.  A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sanchez was born July 16, 1920 in San CarIes, Coahuila, Mexico and was the daughter of Alexander and Leocardia Jaramillo.  She moved to Coleman County as a young child and lived on the Morris Ranch where she attended the Cotton School.  On June 19, 1942, she married Tony Sanchez, Sr. in Coleman.  She was a homemaker, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Guadalupana Society.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Sanchez, Sr. of Coleman; five sons, Tony Sanchez, Jr., Joe Sanchez and Jesse Sanchez, all of Fort Worth, Willie Sanchez of Coleman and Carlos Sanchez of Monterrey, Mexico; three daughters, Mary Alcala of Coleman, Marie Espitia and Mary Esther
Villalpando, both of Fort Worth; two brothers, Robert Jaramillo of Austin and Guillemmo Jaramillo of Monterrey, Mexico; two sisters, Mary DeAnda of Brownwood and Dalia Villarreal of Monterrey, Mexico; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Bobby) Sanchez on December 3, 1972.  Pallbearers were Angelo Alcala, Joe Cain Sanchez, Ricky Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez II, Ricky Villalpando and Joe Espitia.  Honorary pallbearers included Tony Sanchez III, Reuben Espitia, Jonathan Sanchez, Roger Villalpando and Robert Sanchez.

Lila Lunday, age 88, died Friday, February 23, 2001 at home in Fritch.  Services were at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26th in Lake Meredith Baptist Church with the Rev. Blake Westbrook of Lake Meredith Baptist Church, the Rev. Stan Metts of Macon, Missouri and the Rev. Brad Foster of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas officiating.  Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Lunday was born in Durwood, Oklahoma and had lived in the Fritch area off and on for the past 57 years.  From 1967 to 1980, she and her husband lived in Comanche County, Texas.  She was a homemaker and a member of Lake Meredith Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Estel John Lunday, on February 17, 1996; an infant son, Harold Joe Lunday in 1929; two brothers, Harvey and Homer Metts; a grandson, Terry Furgason in 1994; and a great-great-granddaughter, Shayne Marie Ketchum in 2000.

Survivors include a son, G. H. Lunday of Fritch; three daughters, Marlene Cunningham, Lily Quirn and Debra Wells, all of Fritch; a sister, Lela Nettles of Coleman; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and three great- great- grandchildren.

Casket bearers were Michael Lunday, Doyle Furgason, Boyd Rawlins, Les Rawlins, Aaron Wells, Brandon Keener, Kevin Keener and Billy Martin.

Wanda Lou Watson Boss, 68, former Coleman resident, died Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Medical Center of Plano.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating.  Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boss was born August 14, 1932 in Coleman, Texas and was a daughter of Sally Watson Quinn and Hartford Watson.  She grew up in Coleman where she graduated from high school.  She graduated from Hendrick School of Nursing in 1953 and was a registered nurse.  On August 15, 1953, she married Ted Boss in Abilene.  She lived in Abilene from 1953 to 1968, moving to Germany and living there from 1968 to 1978, then to El Paso until 1992, when she moved to Cloudcroft, New Mexico.  She was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Boss of Cloudcroft, New Mexico; two sons, Greg Boss (and wife Lyn) of Allen, Texas and Tim Boss of Dallas; one daughter, Melissa Boss of Austin; one sister, Gwendolyn Coleman of Farmington, New Mexico; a step-brother, Leonard Ehrler of Austin; five grandchildren, Nicol Medina, Deborah Boss, Sabrina Boss, Eddie Melton and Michael Melton; and one great-grandchild, Madelyn Medina.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. tonight (Tuesday).  Pallbearers include David Watson, Collier Watson, Ted Crum, Donald Coleman, Marvin Dozier and Bill Stephenson.  Memorials may be made to any Hospice organization.

Kenneth Bishop, age 66, of Coleman passed away Saturday, February 24, 2001, at his residence.  Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am. at Henderson Funeral Chapel with Sam Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow at Coleman City Cemetery directed by Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.  Family visitation will be tonight (Tuesday) from 6 until 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born July 20, 1934 in Pampa, Texas to the late Linwood M. and Lillie M. Price Bishop.  He attended Central Christian College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Abilene Christian University.  Kenneth married Linda Kay Bohannon in Dallas, Texas on December 19, 1958 and they have celebrated 42 years of marriage.  He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and song leader of Hillcrest Church of Christ before becoming ill.  Kenneth was an artist and loved to paint and draw.  He worked for many years in the art field doing graphics and technical art for a major aerospace company in California.  He retired as an art coordinator from Lockheed-Martin in 1994 after 25 years.  He had been a resident of Coleman since 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bishop of Coleman, Texas; a daughter, Kelly McClendon of Brentwood, California; two sons, Kevin D. Bishop of Irvine, California and Kyle D. Bishop of Austin, Texas; a sister, Linda Hobbs of Coleman, Texas; brother, Linwood Bishop, Jr. of Humble, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Jo Ann Boswell, age 72, of De Leon, Texas died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the De Leon Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joe Baptist Church in De Leon, with Charles Lowman officiating, assisted by Jackie Auvenshine.  Burial will follow in the De Leon Cemetery, under the direction of Nowlin Funeral Home.

She was born October 4,1928 in Zephyr, Texas, a daughter of the late George Washington Ware and Emmem
Frances Myrtle Ware.  She was a homemaker and had resided in De Leon since 1980, moving there from Fort Worth.  She was a member of Western Hills Baptist Church, Fort Worth.  On February 13, 1949, she and Ronald Boswell were married in Comanche.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Michael Boswell of Gainesville; daughters, Cynthia Ann Lowman of Luling, Louisiana and Betty Van Meter of De Leon; sisters, Dorothy Eloise Brandt of Coleman and Peggy Lee Northcutt of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gary Crosby, age 54, of Coleman died at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, February 25, 2001 at Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene.  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Jenkins, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

He was born September 24, 1946 in Brownwood, Texas, a son of Wayne Crosby and Juanita Maye Mills Crosby.  On September 23, 1973, he married Mary Love Anderson in Coleman.  He had been a resident of Coleman most
of his life and graduated from Coleman High School.  He worked for Burns Security Systems for many years and was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.  Mr. Crosby was also a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Love Crosby of Coleman; a daughter, Torrie Crosby of Coleman; one grandson,

Gearldine (Gerri) Coats, age 77, died Sunday, February 25, 2001 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Paul Smith officiating, assisted by D. G. Allen.  Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Coats was born November 20, 1923 in Norton, Texas, a daughter of William Daniel Richards and Nancy Zenobia McGee Richards.  She attended schools in Content and married Leroy Coats on December 3, 1938 in Ballinger.  He preceded hem in death December 20, 1998.  Mrs. Coats had lived in the Novice area all her life before moving to Coleman in 1999.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Novice Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Jo and Richard Johnson of Novice; one son, Troy Coats of Abilene; two sisters, Lou Dole Shields of Aztec, New Mexico and Geneva Tekell of Tahoka, Texas; two brothers, Wilmer Richards of Snyder and Paul Richards of Comanche; four grandchildren, Renea and husband Brent McMillan of Coleman, Sequoyah Coats of Houston, Roi Michelle Moody of Odessa, Jake Moody of Odessa; two great-grandchildren, Brittni McMillan and Whitney McMillan of Coleman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son and six brothers and sisters.  Pallbearers will be Wayne Tekell, Gaylon Tekell, Charlie Stephens, James Richards, Mac Cox and Hilary Rutherford.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 tonight (Tuesday) at the funeral home.

Sharon Schwartz, age 55, died Monday, February 26, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Thursday) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Johnston officiating, assisted by Rev. John Stanislaw.  Burial will follow at Crews Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schwartz was born February 1, 1946 in El Paso, a daughter of the late R. G. Sudduth and Myrtle Griggs Sudduth.  She grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico and attended schools in Hobbs, New Mexico.  She married Jimmy Schwartz on October 18, 1974 in Lovington, New Mexico.  She was a manager for Skinny’s Convenience Stores and a member of First Baptist Church of Coleman.

Mrs. Schwartz is survived by her husband, Jimmy Schwartz of Coleman; four daughters, Sandra Freeman of Hobbs, New Mexico, Jennifer Chadwick of Abiiene, Myrna Valenzuela and Chnissy Jouett, both of Coleman; three sons, Rob Harrington of Hondo, Bruce Schwartz of Levelland, Texas, Kevin Schwartz, of Coleman; her mother Myrtle Sudduth of Hobbs, New Mexico; four sisters, Dorothy Williams of Coleman, Carolyn Sudduth and Linda Pitz, both of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mary Lee Martin of Kingman, Arizona; six brothers, Richard Harrington, Denny Pruitt, Johnny Pruitt, Vernon Harrington of Demming, New Mexico, Jackie Harrnington of Phoenix, Arizona and Robert Harrington of California; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Gladys "Johnnie" Abernathy, 82, of Brownwood, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home with J. A. McDaniel officiating.  Interment was at Greenleaf Cemetery.  She died on February 27, 2001 in Brownwood.

She was born June 18, 1928, in Coleman.  She was a waitress and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Glen Fletcher of Alice and John Fletcher of Spring: three daughters, Bobbe Lou Bain of Brownwood, Betty Joe Larsone of Odessa and Nancy Neely of Phoenix, Arizona: one sister, Mary Glass of Brownwood: and one brother, Curtis Moneyhun.

She was preceded in death by Patsy McCorkle.

Ruby Nance Campbell, age 78, of Coleman died Wednesday (February 28, 2001) at Abilene Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Ooultas officiating and assisted by Rev. Pat McClatchy.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Campbell was born July 16, 1922 in Ballinger, Texas and was a daughter of William A. Nance and Ruth Allen Nance.  She grew up in Ballinger and graduated from high school there.  On July 20, 1941 she married W. F. (Willie) Campbell in Ballinger and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1998.  She moved to Coleman in 1941 and was a co-owner of Campbell Pharmacy. S he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Bettie Morris Circle.

Survivors include one son, William Nance Campbell (and wife Patricia) of Coleman; one daughter, Virginia Ann Moseley (and husband Kyle) of Rochelle, Texas; one sister, Virginia Foster (and husband Pat) of Fairfax, Virginia; one brother, W. A. Nance, Jr. (and wife Juanita) of Levelland; three grandchildren, Chance Campbell (and wife Jackie) of Austin, Clay Campbell (and wife Aislynn) of College Station and Kyla Moseley of Lubbock; one great-grandson, Courtland Campbell of College Station; one aunt, Frances Allen of Ballinger; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jim Snodgrass, Dr. Morris Mann, Nick Taylor, Dwight Nanny, Henry Dodson, Jarvis George,
Dub Smith and David Huff.  Honorary pallbearers will be Chubby Brooks and Charles Hickman.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 500 West Liveoak, Coleman, Texas 76834 or the donors favorite charity.  The family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at Stevens Funeral Home.

Charline Shamblin Kelley passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2001 in an Abilene hospital.  Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Southwest Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating.  Burial was in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.

Mrs. Kelley was a Baptist and a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church for many years.  She was also a member of the Faith Bible Class.  She was born on August 16, 1925 near Brownwood to the late Archie and Ruth Shamblin.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Shamblin and J. W. Shamblin.  Mrs. Kelley attended Commercial Business College and worked as secretary for several years.  She married A. A. Kelley, owner of Kelley Masonry Contractors and together they worked for several years.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Walraven of Clyde; four step-children, Alfred Kelley, Nivra Keliey, Jack Kelley and Jana Caywood; two grandchildren Kelley Walraven of San Angelo and Marc Walraven of Clyde; a sister, Geraldine Stokes of Ira; a brother, Doyle Shamblin of Tuscola; one step-granddaughter and five great-granddaughters.
