Rufus Lee (Ras) Day, 88, of 402 5th Avenue, Coleman, Texas passed away January 1, 2001, at 3:00 p. m. in DeLeon Hospital, DeLeon, Texas.  Services will be Wednesday, January 3, 2001 2:00 p. m. at Mount View Cemetery at the graveside, with the Rev. Audie Cathey officiating, Pastor of Novice Baptist Church.  Interment will be at Mount View Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman.

Rufus was born January 2, 1912 in Burkett, Texas.  He was married to Jewell Turner on December 3, 1938 in Silver Valley.  His parents were Samuel Day and Susan Beeler.  He was a long time resident of Coleman.  He retired from McMurry and was a Baptist.  He was a graduate of the College of Abilene.  Mr. Day was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Jewell Day, of Coleman; 2 grandchildren, Ricky Day of San Angelo, Texas, Tracy and Frank Knovickie of Pipe Creek, Texas, 4 great grandchildren, Cody Day and Kaci Day both of Lubbock, Texas; Brian Konvickie and Brandon Konvickie, both of Pipe Creek, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Leon and Pat Day of Sonora, Texas; and a sister, Era (Pete) Reis of Rising Star, Texas.

Graveside service for Odessa Marie Townsend, 83, was held Thursday in Laurel Land Memorial Park in DalIas.  She died Monday, January 1, 2001, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 26, 1917, in Coleman to Don Keeney and Ethel Parnell.  She is survived by a sister, Reba Griffith of Tennessee; half-sister, Geneva Morton of Coleman; half-sister Sandra Steffey of Coleman; step-sister, Mary Funderburg of Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Robert B. Dodson, age 94, of Coleman died Tuesday (January 2, 2001) at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday (January 5, 2001) at Coleman Cemetery Pavilion.  Services are under the direction of Stevens  Funeral Home.

Mr. Dodson was born in Coleman and was a son of John William Dodson and Cuba Jane Childress Dodson.  He attended school in Coleman and was a life-long resident.  He married Myrtle Craig in Coleman and she preceded him in death. He was a carpenter, worked for many years at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Coleman and later owned and operated a furniture upholstery shop.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and served as a volunteer fireman for a number of years.

Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Winstead of Coleman, Texas, Ann Jameson of Voss, Texas and Roberta Rice of Tucson, Arizona; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
 

Henry Clay Monroe, Jr., 83, died Tuesday, January 2, 2001, in Shannon Medical Center.  Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Restland Cemetery in lraan with Brother Clay Mason officiating, under the direction of Shafer-Nichols Chapel of lraan.

He was born April 1, 1917 in Sanderson.  He married Rachel “Raye” Black on May 4, 1940.  She preceded him in death.  He retired from Marathan Oil Company in lraan in February of 1986 after 38 years of service.

Local survivors include a granddaughter, Kristi Lacy, of Santa Anna.  Other survivors include a sister, Wilma Mansfield of Ruidoso, New Mexico; an aunt, Dorothy lngham of San Angelo; two children and souses, Henry Clay Monroe Ill and wife Diane of lraan and Karen Tyson and husband Gene of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Gladyne Louise "Dean" Goldsmith, age 74, of Coleman died at 4 p.m. January 2, 2001 at her residence.  Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Stanislaw, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating.  Interment was at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Coleman Cemetery.

Mrs. Goldsmith was born October 3, 1926, in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Ben F. Dyes and Ruby Nesom.  She had been a resident of Coleman since 1990 and was a sales lady and homemaker.  She was also a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Goldsmith of Austin; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Shaw of Arlington and local sister-in-law, Mrs. Wanda Shaw of Coleman.

Marilynn Miller SewelI, 79 Marilynn Miller Sewell, age 79, of San Antonio and formerly of Coleman County, died Thursday, January 4, 2001, at the Hospice Unit of Methodist Transplant Hospital in San Antonio.  Graveside services were 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Brown Ranch Cemetery in Coleman County, with Rev. Helen Mclver officiating.  Services were under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sewell was born November 5, 1921 in Gouldbusk, a daughter of John Manley Miller and Annie Pearl Harris Miller.  She was reared in Gouldbusk and Fisk and attended schools at Brown Ranch, graduating from Mozelle High School.  She married Albert C. Sewell on February 8, 1946 in Fort Worth.  He preceded her in death in 1972.  She had lived in San Antonio for the last 30 years and was an executive secretary in the Civil Service and a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, J. M. and Frances Miller of Arlington, Texas and Charles and Maggie Miller of Overland Park, Kansas; two nephews, David Miller of Amarillo, Texas and Charlie Miller of Watagua, Texas and a nephew-in-law, Larry French of Arlington, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a niece, Judy Ann Miller French in 1983.

Services for James S. 'Bo' Brewer, age 81, of Tomball who died January 4, 2001 were held at the First United Methodist Church in Brownwood, Sunday, January 7, 2001.  The Reverend Don Scott officiated with interment at the Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, with Davis-Morris Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Brewer was born February 11, 1919 in Bastrop, Texas to the late James Samuel and Audrey Parks Brewer.  He was a former Santa Anna resident and attended the Santa Anna schools.  He was married to the former Gene Adams.  September 3, 1938 and she preceded him in death January 4, 2000.  They celebrated 61 years of mar­riage.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a former employee of James R. Beadel, retiring as manager of the Mayflower Transfer and Storage Company in Brownwood.  He was a veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Navy.

Survivors include one son, James Grady Brewer of Tomball; a daughter, Jamie Brewer Hamm of London, England; three grandchildren; and one brother, D. C. Brewer of Perris, California.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Brewer.

Christine Jones, age 78, died Friday, January 5, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.  Services were held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating.  Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones was born September 12, 1922 in Coleman County to Leon H. Johnson and Eunice Zirkle Johnson.  She was
reared and attended schools in Coleman County and graduated from Buffalo High School.  She married William Jesse (Billie) Jones on July 14, 1940 in Coleman.  Mrs. Jones worked at the Owl Drug Store for many years, and was a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Skip Williams of Coleman; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Don and Deborah Jones of Brownwood; two brothers, Bobby Johnson and Doyle Johnson; one sister, Glennie Glass; four grandchildren, Clay Bob Fenton of Fort Worth, Chad and wife Ashley Garrett of Weatherford, Jeffi Lyn and Juli Jone, both of Waco; two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Cade Garrett of Weatherford; and several nieces and
nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and three brothers.  Pallbearers were Ray Prichard, Buck McGonagill, Johnny Dempsey, David Switzer, Sid Burdick and John Hensley.

Virgil Norris (Red) Stovall, 86 Graveside services for Virgil Norris Stovall will be held at City of Lubbock Cemetery, Lubbock, Texas, today (Tuesday, January 9, 2001), under the direction of Rix Funeral Home of Lubbock, Texas.  He died in Lutheran Home of West Texas, Lubbock, Texas, on January 6, 2001, of natural causes.

Born December 24, 1914, Silver Valley, Coleman County, Texas, Mr. Stovall was 86 years old.  He was the third of nine children born to Emery and Willie Gipson Stovall of Silver Valley, Texas.  He attended schools in Silver Valley.  At the onset of World War II, Mr. Stovall joined the US Army.  He fought combat services in the Pacific Theater, specifically Angel Island of the Philippines.  His rank was Tech Sergeant in the 32nd Infantry.  He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, Pacific Theater Ribbon and Combat Infantryman's Badge.  After the war, Mr. Stovall returned to his family, now living in Lubbock.  Throughout the years he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for various large contractors.  He was a loyal union member of the I. O. U. E., Local 819.  He was a devoted supporter of his widowed mother as long as she lived.  He was a Baptist by faith.

Mr. Stovall was preceded in death by brothers: Fred StovalI and Glenn Stovall, Silver Valley, Texas; sisters: Stovall Spruiell, Whitesboro, Texas; lmogene Stovall, Lubbock, Texas and Patsy Stovall Brookmole, Midland, Texas.  Ten direct nieces and two nephews, as well as their spouses and children, also survive him.  Especially attentive to his needs and care was niece Emily Brookmole of Lubbock.  Family members are especially appreciative of the services she rendered to him on a continuous basis.  Mr. Stovall enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Slick Garrett and his surviving wife, Annie, of Jayton, Texas.

Mr. Stovall was a regular attendee of the Silver Valley Reunion, held each May at the Silver Valley Community Center, Silver Valley, Texas.  The family wishes to extend a special and specific Thank You to the administrative staff, direct nursing care personnel and other employees of Lutheran Home of West Texas, Lubbock, Texas.  Providing the best in care, they gave Christian guided love and attention to his needs and to those of his visiting family.  The family will always appreciate the service Lutheran Home gives to all of their residents.  Mr. Stovall is remembered for always giving Silver Dollars to his nieces and nephews and for his flaming red hair.  Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the Lutheran Home of West Texas, 5502 West 4th Street, Lubbock, Texas.

Kathy (McLeod Royall) Shores of Texhoma, Oklahoma and a member of First Christian Church passed away at Norman Memorial Hospital, Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday, January 6, 2001.  She was 84 years, 4 months and 6 days of age.  Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) January 10, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in First Christian Church with Mike Hughes officiating.  Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery under the direction of Dawson-Welch Funeral Home of Texhoma.

Kathy was born August 21, 1916 in Santa Anna, Texas to Clyde A. McLeod and Zebbie Smedley, a farming family.  She married Valton R. E. Royall on July 21, 1935 and had three sons, Charles, Donald and Robert.  In 1958, she moved to Texhoma and was united in marriage to Harold Jack Shores on December 23, 1971 in Boise City, Oklahoma.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Royall of San Angelo and Robert Roy-all of Newcastle, Oklahoma; an aunt, Lydia A. Moore of Nashville, Tennessee; two cousins, Jessie Phillips of Taylor, Texas and Jackie Mills Ginsberg of Coleman; five step­children, Darrel Huddleston of Texhoma, Galen Shores of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Terry Shores of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Linda McDaniel of Claremore, Oklahoma and Jennie Lathrop of Boise City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Eunice Sexton of Guymon, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her parents, two husbands, a son, Donald Royall and a granddaughter, Kathy preceded her in death.

Brother Bill Evans, age 62, of Coleman, died Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.  Services will be held at 10 a. m. Wednesday at Community Baptist Church with Bro. Marcy Grun officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.  Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bill Evans was born February 8, 1938 in East Prairie, Missouri and was the son of Ellon Poley Evans and the late Tillman
Evans.  He grew up and attended school in East Prairie, Missouri.  He lived in Kentucky, then later moved to California before where he lived until 1992 when he moved to Coleman.  He returned to Bakersfield, California, living there from 1995 - 1998, returning to Coleman in 1998.  In September 1986, he married Mary Murphy Chamberlain in Taft, California.  He had pastored churches in Texas and California since 1978 and was pastoring Harmony Baptist Church at the time of his death.  He was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Evans of Coleman; his mother, Ellon Evans of Bakersfield, California; two sons, William Poley Evans Jr. of Bakersfield and Douglas Evans of Taft, California; two daughters, Cheryl Fields and Liz Hagstrom, both of Taft; a step-daughter, Johnna Phillips of Coleman; a brother, Albert Evans of Bakersfield; six sisters, Doris Henderson of Bakersfield, Alma Hunt of Maricopa, California, Betty Poor of Sikeston, Missouri; Sue Muse of Bakersfield, Judy Burns of Pine, Arizona and Brenda Evans of Bakersfield; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Vera McMillin, age 88, of Abilene, died Sunday, January 7, 2001, at an Abilene medical center.  Graveside services were  held at 11 a. m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Bobby Wolfe officiating.  Services were under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. 

Mrs. McMillin was born at Voss, in Coleman County and graduated from Ballinger High School.  She married Ellis McMillin in Brownwood and they moved to Abilene where they owned and operated National Electric Manufacturing Co. for 41 years.  Mr. McMillin preceded her in death.  She was a member of First Christian Church in Ballinger.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas A. McMillin of Whitney, Billy W. McMillin of Dallas, George A. McMillin and Joe E. McMillin, both of Abilene; a brother, Marsden Jarrett of Ballinger; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Eugene Mauldin, 89, of Abilene, died Tuesday, January 9, 2001 at Coronado Nursing Home in Abilene after a brief illness.  Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Baird.  Rev. Miller Robinson officiated, assisted by Rev. Jerry Jopling.  Burial was in Belle Plaine Cemetery, directed by Parker Funeral Home.

Mr. Mauldin was born in Shields, Texas and lived in Rowden for 62 years.  He lived in Snyder and Abilene for three years.  He was a retired farmer and also worked for Foremost Dairies and the Abilene Reporter-News.  He had also been employed by the Texas Highway Department, Robo Car Wash and Snyder Farm and Ranch.  He was a member of the Baird First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  He was a member of the Colonial Hill Baptist Church in Snyder, where he was a Deacon as well.  He married Vernie Bell Cooper in Sylvester.

Survivors include three sons, Carl Mauldin of Comanche; Roland Mauldin of Denton Valley and Don Mauldin of Cape Coral, Florida; two daughters, Irene Masters of Snyder and Marjorie Brown of San Antonio; two brothers, Raymond Mauldin of Weatherford and Nolan Mauldin of Fort Worth; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Glynn Date Faries, Jr., age 48, of Coleman, died Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.  Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Roberts officiafing, assisted by Rev. Art Allen.  Burial followed at Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Faries was born April 6, 1952 in Coleman, Texas and was a son of the late Ealder Ballard Faries Berg and Glynn Dale Faries, Sr.  He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1970.  On August 10, 1970, he married Karen Kay Barnett in Coleman.  He attended Cummins Diesel Mechanic's School and had been a truck driver for over 30 years, formerly driving for Martin Brick in Coleman.  At the time of his death he was a truck driver for Mueller, Inc. where he had been employed for 20 years.  At Mueller's he was a lead driver, truck driver trainer and a safety trainer.  He was an authority on all aspects of the trucking industry, including rules, regulations and laws.  He was a leader and was looked up to by all the other drivers.  Anything he was asked to do, he did willingly.  His job was his life.  Even on the last day of his life, Dale was a hero because when he realized he needed medical assistance while he was driving, he pulled his truck off the road and into a Wal-Mart parking lot so that he would not endanger other drivers.  He was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Kay Faries of Coleman; three sons, Mack Eugene Faries of Gainesville, Texas, Shawn Dale Faries and Tyson Daniel Faries, both of Coleman; his father and step-mother, Glynn Dale Faries, Sr. and Carol Faries of Coleman; three brothers, Billy Don Faries of Novice, Bobby Dan Faries and Michael Darrell Faries, both of Coleman; one sister, Peggy Darlene Calabrese of Alvarado, Texas; one half-sister, Catharine Stringer of Coleman; nine grandchildren.

William "Bill" Finlay, age 87, of Brady (formerly of Coleman) died Friday, January 12, 2001 at Brady.  Funeral services were at 2:00 p. m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady with Rusty Kwast officiating.  Burial followed in the Lohn Cemetery, under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.

Mr. Finlay was born August 31, 1913 in Llano, Texas, a son of James and Anna (Patton) Finlay.  On July 3, 1941, he and Madeline Horne were married in Eden, Texas.  He owned and operated Coleman Monument Works until retiring.  He was a member of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ, of the VFW, an Army Veteran, WWII S.H.A.E.F.

Survivors include his wife Madeline "Madge" Finlay of Brady; one son, Corey Finlay, of Brady; one brother, Earl Rinlay, of Lade Whitney; and several nieces and nephews.

 Edward "Tom" White, 85, of Abilene, formerly of Coleman, died at 8:53 a. m. Friday, January 12, 2001, at Knox County Hospital.  Services were 3:30 p. m. Monday at Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion, with the Rev. Jeff Robinett of First Christian Church officiating.  Burial followed in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mrs. White was born May 2, 1915 in Winchell, Texas, a son of Frank White and Dora (Wells) White.  A resident of Coleman County most of his life, he moved away in 1989, after retiring from Coleman Independent School District.  On August 24, 1936, he married Bobbie Harris in Coleman.  She preceded him in death.  He was a member of First Christian Church of Santa Anna.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Koecher of Plantation, Florida and Pat Cooley of Abilene; a son, Eugene White of Carrolton; a brother, Richard White of Odessa; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.

Mrs. OlIie Mae “Jackie” Bellah, age 73, of Coleman died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2001 at Coleman County Medical Center.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Barry Wilson, member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Born June 7, 1927 in Stillwell, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Bill Knight and Carrie Rice Seabolt.  She attended Indian School and Baytone Indian College.  She had been a resident of Coleman County since 1972 and was retired from DaI Tile Company of Coleman.  She was a Baptist. Her husband preceded her in death in 1978.

Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Meadows and Sandy Stephens, both of Coleman and Patricia Bellah of California; two sons, Dail BeIIah of Crane, Missouri and Floyd BeIIah of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steven Meadows Jr., Greg Stenix, Dail Beliah, Floyd Bellah and Darrell Fletcher.  Memorials may be made to Coleman County Medical Center, 310 S. Pecos, Coelman, Texas 76834.  Family visitation will be tonight (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Glynn Dale Faries, Sr., age 68 of Coleman, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2001 at 12:08 p. m. in Coleman County Medical Center.  Services will be held today (Tuesday) at 11:00 a. m. at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Roberts pastor of North Coleman Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow with private services on the family ranch under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Faries was born in Silver Valley on February 4, 1932 to William David and Vila Lucille McNalley Faries.  He married Ealder Eugenia Ballard Berg and she preceded him in death.  He then married Betty Carol Vernon in Ballinger on July 28, 1976.  He was employed by Steve's Redi-Mix, Martin Brick and Cooper-Woodruff and retired from Purolater Couriers.  He was a member of First Christian Church and had lived most of his life in Coleman County.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Carol Faires, of Coleman; two daughters, Peggy Carlene and son-in-law, Jim Clabrese of Alvarado and Catharine and Ken Stringer of El Paso; three sons, Billy Don and wife, Darlene Faries, of Novice, Bobby Dan Faries and Michael Darrell Faries, both of Coleman; one sister, Bessie Pennington of Grosvenor; one brother, William David Faries of Dublin; Katherine Vernon of the home and grandchildren being reared in the home, Haley and Ashley Durbin and Dakota Stringer; eighteen grandchildren; seventenn great-grandchildren.

One son, Glynn Dale Faries, Jr., one sister, Joyce Macuthen and two brothers, Jerry W. Faries and Gerald Faries preceded him in death.

Irene James Ryan, age 87, of Coleman died Sunday, January 14, 2001 at Coleman Care Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Moore officiating.  Interment will be at Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ryan was born October 3, 1913 in Coleman County and was the daughter of Nathaniel and Willie Dancer James. She grew up in Valera and graduated from Valera High School in 1930.  In January 1933, she married Nelson Ryan in Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1995.  She attended Santa Anna Nursing School and worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse for a number of years.  She moved to Coleman in 1967 from Graham, Texas where she had lived for over 20 years.  She was a Methodist.

Harold N. Futrell, 80, of Abilene, died Sunday, January 14, 2001, at the V. A. Hospital in Big Spring.  Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, at the Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd Street, with the Rev. Louis Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery. 

Mr. Futrell married Julia Frances Hardin.  He retired as a custodian for the Abilene Independent School District after 33 years.  He served as a Private in the U.S. Army during WWII. 

Survivors include his wife, Julia, of the home; three brothers, D. K. Futrell of Abilene, W. R. "Bill" Futrell and Don Futrell, both of Midland; a sister, Dorothy Bridges of Phoenix, Arizona; and seven nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 1443 N. 2nd Street.
 

Alfred L. Escobar, 57 of Coleman died Monday, January 15, 2001, at the Veteran's Hospital in Temple.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p. m. today (Thursday) at the Coleman City Cemetery with the Rev. Marguerite Barboza officiating, assisted by the Rev. Joe Frausto.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Escobar was born July 21, 1943 in Christine, Texas, a son of Lupe Escobar and Tomasa Lopez Escobar.  He was raised and attended shcool in Christine.  He joined the military at age 16 and served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Army.  He married Anita Rosales on July 21, 1967 in Coleman.  He worked at Coleman Livestock Auction as a yardman and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Escobar of San Antonio; one daughter, Gloria Escobar of San Antonio; two sons, Travis Escobar of Irving and Willie John Escobar of San Antonio; three sisters, Mary Castillo and Olivia Mungia, both of Coleman, Fedelphia Blankenship of Stockton, California; two brothers, Willie Escobar and Gus Escobar, both of Coleman; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one nephew and one brother, John Escobar.

Mrs. Simona M. Rosalez, age 78, of Coleman, died at 4:29 a. m. Tuesday, January 16, 2001, in San Angelo. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p. m. today (Thursday) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Larry Cyr of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating.  Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.  A prayer service was held at 7 p. m. Wednesday evening at Walker Funeral Home Chapel.

Born February 18, 1922 in Austin, Texas, she was the daughter of Benita Martinez and Gaudalupe Caserez.  On September 27, 1938, she and Frank Rosalez, Sr. were married in the Catholic Church of Brownwood.  She had been a resident of Coleman County since 1934 and grew up in the Burkett area near the Webb School area.  She was a housewife and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Rosalez, Sr. of Coleman; six daughters, Sophia Rangel of Stockdale, Mary Louise Nunez of Atlanta, Stella Salas of Abilene, Carolyn Rosalez of San Angelo, Pauline Ramirez of Brownwood and Josie Salagado of Coleman; seven sons, Rosario Rosalez of Murry, Idaho, Rudy Rosalez, Frank Rosalez, Jr. and Eddie Rosalez, all of Coleman, Joe Rosalez of Fort Worth, David Rosalez of Brownwood, and Peter Rosalez of Bremerton, Washington; one sister, Simona Dela Rosa of Coleman; 55 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.  Pallbearers include sons, Rosario Rosalez, Rudy Rosalez, Frank Rosalez, Eddie Rosalez, David Rosalez, Joe Rosalez and Peter Rosalez.

Mrs. Frankie Marie Slayton, age 65, of Goldthwaite, died at 10:35 a. m. Tuesday, January 16, 2001 in the Comanche Hospital.  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Holtzclaw officiating.  Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery.

She was born December 8, 1935 in Coleman, Texas, a daughter of William Lee Johnson amd Mary Ellen Francis.  She was married to Leroy Slayton on October 15, 1960 in Coleman.  He preceded her in death in 1986.  A resident of Coleman County most of her life, she worked for Jinright's and was Pentecostal.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Goins of Brownwood; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mickey and Brenda Slayton of Goldthwaite and Billy Wayne Slayton of Coleman; two sisters, Ruby Nell Hasserodt of Coleman and Betty Jean Brooker of Winters; a brother, Harvey Johnson of Coleman; and four grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.  Family visitation will be from 6 to 7 p. m. this evening (Thursday) at the funeral home.

Allie Mae Jones, age 76 of Coleman, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at Coleman County Medical Center.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p. m. at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Stanislaw officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones was born October 13, 1924 in Glen Cove, Texas and was the daughter of John T. and Dora Pearl Mulanax Kenney.  She grew up in Glen Cove and attended school at New Central.  In 1940 she married Oscar Earl Tate and he preceded her in death in 1965.  She married Herman "Ike" Jones on September 9, 1969 in Coleman and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1999.  She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse graduating from nursing school at Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital in Coleman.  She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Loretta Faye Burleson of Abilene; one grandson, David Burleson of Abilene; two stepchildren, Lonnie Jones and Linda Turner, both of Coleman; two step-grandchildren, Amy Calloway and Joe Turner; one great granddaughter, Brittany Calloway; one great-grandson, Brandon Adam Calloway; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glenn and Betty Jones of Coleman and sister-in-law, Ila Kirby of Coleman.

Family visitation will be from 5:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m. tonight (Thursday) at the funeral home.

Mr. Randolph Wilson, age 75 of Gouldbusk, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at 3:30 a.m. at his residence.  Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. S. L. Yeilding and Barry Wilson officiating.  Interment was at Gouldbusk Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mr. Wilson was born March 19, 1925 in Wilson, Texas to Olan Wilson and Grace Thompson Wilson.  He attended
Mozelle High School and on December 30, 1946 he mamed Marian Elizabeth Stuart in Leaday, Texas.  Mr. Wilson was a resident of Coleman County most of his life.  He served on the MozelIe School Board for 19 years, was a member of the Coleman Rodeo Association for 20 years, and was a member of the Gouldbusk Baptist Church where he was a deacon.  He was a stockfarmer.

Survivors include his wife, Marian Wilson of Gouldbusk; two daughters, Karen Griffin of Leaday and Kathy Wilson of Gouldbusk; two sons, Gary Wilson of Gouldhusk and Steve Wilson of Springtown; two sisters, Doreece Ford of Peaster, Texas and Sue Hemphill of Coleman; two brothers, Hershell Wilson of Dallas and Glen Wilson of Gouldbusk; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Richard
Wayne Griffin.

Pallbearers were grandsons, a grandson-in-law and a nephew.  Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Jamison, Donny, Danny and Jerry Allen, R. V. Rodgers, Cotton Matthews, Bill Johnson, Raymond Machen and EImo Hudson.

Candido H. "Candy" Sanchez, 72, of Coleman, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2001, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. Mass was conduced at be 10 a. m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Larry Cyr officiating.  Interment was in Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

He was born October 3, 1928 in Coleman, Texas, a son of Wenselado Sanchez and Maximina Hernandez Sanchez.  He was a member of Holy Name Society and a Crusillista.  A resident of Coleman all of his life, he was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

Survivors include one brother, Pedro Sanchez and wife Lupe of Abilene.  Pallbearers were members of the Holy Name Society.

Ira Alfred Collins, age 94, of Brownwood passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001, at 4:15 a.m. at his residence. 
Services were 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Santa Anna with Edmond Cullins and Rev. Freddie Cullins officiating.  Interment followed in the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Henderson Furreral Home of Santa Anna.

Alfred was born in Bell County, Texas on August 11, 1906 to the late Don Lee and Sallie Nelson Cullins.  He was raised in Coleman County where he attended the Lost Creek and Brown Ranch Schools.  Alfred married Thelma Simmons in Coleman on October 27, 1927 and they celebrated 69 years of marriage.  Thelma preceded him in death in 1997.  He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been employed with the Santa Anna Tile Plant and was a stockfarmer before his retirement.  He had been a resident of Brownwood since 1970.

Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Ralston of Brownwood, Glenda Gassiot of Valera, Clois Cox of Early and Velda Johnson of Cleburne; two sons, Edmond Cullins of San Antonio and Freddie Cullins of League City; 21 grandchildren 42 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  One great-grandson, Cody Warren, preceded him in death in 1993.

Pallbearers were Chris Cullins, Danny Cullins, Eddie Cullins, Roger Cullins, Bo Gassiot, Jayson Johnson, Paul Ralston, David Sparks and Rick Sparks.

Faye Williams, age 89, of Coleman died Saturday, January 20, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. 
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating.  Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams was born July 21, 1911 in Gouldbusk, Texas and was a daughter of William Chapman Revel and Palma Lois Frasier Revel.  She grew up in Gouldbusk and Shields and attended school at Shields.  On July 4, 1928, she married Leonard Earl Williams in Santa Anna and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1966.  She lived in Gouldbusk and moved to Coleman in 1966.  She lived in Brownwood for two years while she attended Brownwood Nursing
School.  She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked at Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital and Holiday Hill
Nursing Home.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Lindly of Garland, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ann Williams of Coleman; three sisters, Pauline Powers and Willie C. Gilbreath, both of Coleman and Gerene Rowe of Lubbock; one brother, Weldon “Buddy” Revel of Canyon, Texas; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren: and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers include Glenn Gilbreath, Allen Turner, Glenn Scarborough, Cecil Day, Sammy Pate, and John Puckett.

Mrs. Frances McAnally, 81, of Cross Plains, died Saturday, January 20, 2001, in Coleman Healthcare Center.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Higginbotham Funeral Chapel with Dr. Richard Chaffin officiating.  Burial will be in the Cross Plains Cemetery, with Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains in charge of arrangements.

Frances was born July 17, 1919 in Callahan County to Oscar and Mae (Gould) McDermitt.  She married Edgar Nelson McAnally on September 8, 1935 in Cross Plains.  Mrs. McAnally had lived all her life in the Cross Plains area.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Burkett United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Larry McAnally, and wife, Barbara of Brownwood and Eddie McAnaIly, and wife, Cindy of Snyder; a sister, Susan Andis of Coleman; four grandchildren, Randall McAnally, and wife Cindy of Brownwood, Kristi White, and husband Sean of McKinney, Ryan McAnally of Snyder, Mark McAnally of Abilene; three great-grandchildren, Christopher McAnally of Brownwood. Carson McAnally of Brownwood, Katherine White of McKinney, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar and three sisters, Ritta Knight, Zora DeBusk and Elizabeth Reynolds.

Wallace Adams age 83, of Santa Anna passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001 at 10:35 p.m. at Twilight Nursing Home in Bangs, Texas.  Graveside services will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Burkett Cemetery with Rev. Jim Perry officiating under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman. 

Wallace was born November 1, 1917 in Dragoon, Arizona to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Walter Adams.  He was raised in Arizona and Coleman County and attended the Burkett Schools.  Wallace married Eva Lee Neff in Sweetwater, Texas in 1936 and they celebrated 63 years of marriage.  Eva Lee preceded him in death in 1999.  He was a longtime resident of Coleman County, a member of Rolling Acres Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.  Wallace, along with his wife, was in the implement business and farmed and ranched until retirement.

Survivors include an adopted daughter, Judith Rose Bingham of Andrews, Texas.

Jean Clarke, age 75, of Brownwood, died Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. 
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coleman with The Rev. Joan Rudolph officiating.

Mrs. Clarke was born December 20, 1925 in Lohn. McCulloch County, Texas and was the daughter of Delma Johnson and Tinia Trewitt Johnson.  She grew up in Coleman where she graduated from high school and attended college at Texas Tech and Trinity University.  She was retired from Arthur Young and Company in Dallas as a tax accountant.  She lived in Fort Worth and Dallas and moved to Lake Brownwood in 1990 and to Brownwood four years ago.  She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Candis Mankin of Terrell, Texas and Tandalyn Howard of Bangs, Texas; five grandchildren, Lance McClure, Shad McClure, Camille Cline, Jeremy Howard and Jennifer Portillo; two step grandchildren, Cory Howard and Casey Howard; four great-grandchildren. Monte Austin McClure, Colton McClure, Cobl McClure and Caden McClure; three brothers, Pat Johnson of Bangs, Don Johnson and Cecil Johnson, both of Coleman.

Louise Harrell age 74, of Ballinger, passed away Saturday morning, January 20 2001.  Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday in Mulecreek Cemetery near Tennyson with Rev. Jerry Roach of San Angelo officiating.  Arrangements were by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.

Louise was born July 1, 1927, in Tennyson to James F. and Cora Lee Hammock Cornelius.  She married H. M. Harrell, Sr. in April of 1943 in her parents home in San Angelo.  He preceded her in death on January 3, 1991.  She was a homemaker and a seamstress.  She was also predeceased by three sisters, Clara, Ruth, and Rose, and three brothers,  J. F., Cecil and Robert.

Survivors include a son, J. R. Harrell of San Angelo: five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Virgie Herring of Coleman, Lillian Warden of Mississippi, and Lois Thornton of San Angelo.

Houston Allen Jolley died Sunday, January 21, 2001, in Abilene Regional Medical Center.  Funeral services were be held at 2:00 p.m.  Wednesday (January 24, 2001) at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born June 20, 1923 in Mineola, Texas a son of B. H. and Rhonda Jolley.  He graduated from high school in Robert Lee.  On January 21, 1943, he and Kathleen Mika of San Angelo were married.  During World War II he served with the 127th Engineering Battalion, 11th Airborne Division.  Mr. Jolley graduated from Howard Payne College and began his coaching career at San Angelo Lake View.  He also coached at Bronte, Roscoe, and Cisco Junior College and Bangs.  In 1965, he was named "All Area Coach of the Year" while at Bangs.  He also coached at Comanche and Gorman and served as the counselor for Eastland County Schools, Cisco and Rising Star, and later Coleman County schools - Mozelle, Santa Anna and Talpa.  He retired in 1982 and farmed and ranched near Lake Brownwood.  He was a member of the Texas High School Coaches' Association and the Lone Star Chapter of the 11th Airborne DIvision.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Mika Jolley; daughter and son-in- law, Kerrie and Steve Smith; granddaughters, Katie Wright of Austin and Jenna Wright of Grapevine and grandson Derek Smith of Grapevine; daughter and son-in-law, Jane Jolley and Jim Cioffi; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Mika and Keith Prater of Fort Worth; granddaughter Sara Gustavus of Austin and grandson Daniel Gustavus of Grapevine; four sisters, Deween Shipman of Sweetwater, Billie Funderburk of Houston, Joyce Bickerstaff of Odessa and Yvonne McClintock of El Paso.

The family suggests that memorials go to the World War II memorial project.

Vivian Brevard, age 93, of Canton and formerly of the Crews community, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, in Tyler. 
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 am. today (Thursday) at Glen Cove Cemetery with Rev. Ferris Akins officiating.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brevard was born October 17, 1907 in Crews, Texas and was a daughter of Millard Kerby and Elsie Morton Kerby.  She grew up in the Crews community and attended school at Herring.  On September 17, 1927 she married Clyde Miller Brevard in Balhinger and he preceded her in death on August 7, 1981.  She moved to Canton in 1981 and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at Crews and after moving to Canton was a member of First Baptist Church there.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Bobbye Brevard of Winnie, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Neva and Marion Davis of Canton; one sister, Mildred Morrison of Sweetwater; four grandchildren, Debbie Smith, Gerald (and wife Joni) Brevard, Cindy (and husband Gary) Ferguson, and Cathy Davis; eight great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Kerby and Arthur Kerby.

Jim A. Isbell, age 69 of Coleman died at his residence Wednesday January 24, 2001.  Graveside services will be held
2:00 p.m. Friday January 26, 2001 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Isbell was born October 14, 1931, a son of William Wickerson lsbell and Mary Olean Royall lsbell.  He grew up and attended schools in Littlefield, Texas.  He married Doris Lee Franklin in Clovis, New Mexico on October 21, 1950.  He later married Paula Simpson in 1976.  Mr. lsbell moved to Coleman in November 1972, and owned lsbell Used Cars and Wrecking Yard.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lavelle and Mackie Walters of Coleman; five sons and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Marye lsbell of Lubbock, Dannie and Sherry lsbell and Jimmy and Melody lsbell both of Hereford, Anthony lsbell and Lynn lsbell both of Coleman, one sister, Eura Royall of Coleman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond lsbell of Coleman, J. C. and Shirley Isbell of St. James, Missouri; one step-son Loyd Parks, Jr.; two step-daughters, Lois Mitchell and Lori Parks; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruth BelI and four brothers, Jack, Thomas, Albert and Jessy lsbell.  Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday January 25, 2001 at the funeral home.

Mable P. Sparkman, age 92, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in Llano Memorial Hospital, L!ano, Texas. 
Services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Paul Smith officiating.  Burial followed under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sparkman was born March 12, 1908 in Coleman, a daughter of John Willie Dodgen and Birdie Mae Hipsher Dodgen.  She was reared and attended schools in Coleman County.  On October 23, 1946, she married Rev. Edwin King Sparkman in Coleman.  She traveled with her husband, helping him during his ministry.  She lived in Dallas for 20 years, where she worked as a bookkeeper and moved to Kingsland in 1993.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Frances Hatcher of Kingsland; one sister, Ruby Mae Clark of Coleman; one brother, Fred Alfred Dodgen of Coleman; one son-in-law, Weldon Brice of Kingsland; five grandchildren, Michael Gaylon Hatcher of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, Tedilu Darbyshire of Warsaw, Missouri, Sherry Brice of Abilene, Lori Exline of Mansfield, Texas, Mary Dura of Austin; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Patsy Jean Brice, and one brother, Jesse Lee Dodgen.

Mrs. Hallie Mae Stanfield Miller, age 89 of Coleman passed away at 6:59 p.m. January 25, 2001 at her residence. Services were held Sunday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Thornton retired 
Church of Christ pastor officiating.  Interment was in Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home.

Mrs. Miller was born April 1, 1911 in Leaday, Texas to James Nathaniel and Rosie Mae Ferguson Stanfield.  She married  Jessie James Miller, Sr. on October 19, 1928 in Gouldbusk, Texas and he preceded her in death in 1967.  She lived most of her life in Coleman and Coleman County and worked for Curtis Roberts, Smitty’s Cleaners, Jinright Manufacturing and a clothing manufacturing company in Brownwood.  She also was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Rose and husband, David Thornton of Kenai, Alaska, Bonnie Bea Miller Rankin of Coleman and Jimmie Mae Miller Conroy of Fort Worth; one son, Lester Stanley and wife, Lola Miller of Plainview; and two daughters-in-law, Jeannie Marie Faries Miller of Andrews and Patsy Ruth Adkinson Miller of Clyde.  Twenty grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jessie James Miller, Jr. of Andrews and Gaines Willie Miller of Clyde, one sister, Gladys Felty of Abilene and three brothers, Irvan Stanfield of Dilley, Lawrence Stanfield and R. B. Stanfield both of Devine.

Mrs. Hallie Mae Stanfield Miller, age 89 of Coleman passed away at 6:59 p.m. January 25, 2001 at her residence. Services were held Sunday, January 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Thornton retired

Mrs. Miller was born April 1, 1911 in Leaday, Texas to James Nathaniel and Rosie Mae Ferguson Stanfield.  She married  Jessie James Miller, Sr. on October 19, 1928 in Gouldbusk, Texas and he preceded her in death in 1967.  She lived most of her life in Coleman and Coleman County and worked for Curtis Roberts, Smitty’s Cleaners, Jinright Manufacturing and a clothing manufacturing company in Brownwood.  She also was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Rose and husband, David Thornton of Kenai, Alaska, Bonnie Bea Miller Rankin of Coleman and Jimmie Mae Miller Conroy of Fort Worth; one son, Lester Stanley and wife, Lola Miller of Plainview; and two daughters-in-law, Jeannie Marie Faries Miller of Andrews and Patsy Ruth Adkinson Miller of Clyde.  Twenty grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jessie James Miller, Jr. of Andrews and Gaines Willie Miller of Clyde, one sister, Gladys Felty of Abilene and three brothers, Irvan Stanfield of Dilley, Lawrence Stanfield and R. B. Stanfield both of Devine.

Jewel Faye Crawford Danner, 70, of Brownwood died Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.  A celebratory wake was held Friday evening in the chapel of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.  Graveside service was 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenleaf Cemetery, Brownwood.  Arrangements were by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

She was born November 12, 1930 In Brownwood to Sam and Lode Murray Crawford.  She attended R. F. Hardin Elementary and High School.  She was a certified nurse’s aide and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: Vicki Bias of Dallas, Odel and Catherine Crawford of Odessa, Robert and Eva Crawford of Carrollton; Tammie Johnson of Carrollton: Mark and Jill Crawford of Santa Anna; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchildren: one sister, Doris Fisher of Irving; brothers Leon Crawford of Detroit, Michigan; and Ernest Crawford of Hawaii: and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ladd Danner, her parents, and a brother, Alvin Crawford.

B. C. Day, Jr., age 76, died Monday, January 29, 2001 at San Angelo.  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at Adams Cemetery in Coleman County.  Arrangements are under the direction of Dodson Funeral Home of Lampasas, Texas.

B. C. Day, Jr. was born and raised in Burkett, Texas.  He lived in San Angelo for over 30 years.  B. C. helped make
furniture for Carlsbad State School.

Survivors include three brothers, N. H. “Rusty” Day of lzoro, Edward E. Day of Winters and Willie Day of Overton; two sisters, Lorean Whorton and Ida May, both of Brownwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Adams Cemetery or to Carlsbad State School just north of San Angelo.

Graveside services for Ruby Jewell "Judy" Hamlett Lovel, 77, of Moody, formerly of Alvin, were held Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor with Rev. Ruben Packer officiating.  Another service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cole Funeral Home in Moody.  Mrs. Lovel died January 30, 2001, in Alvin.

She was born July 2, 1923, in Sagerton to Bobbie Lispcomb and Elsie Mae Burnett Hamlett.  She married Woodrow Wilson Lovel on May 17, 1941.  He preceded her in death on February 24, 1999.  She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and graduated from Buffalo High School.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Coggin of Moody; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Dickie Lovel of Alvin, Thomas and Diana Lovel of Alvin and Joe and Jewel Lovel of Needville; three sisters, Lillie Murl Hanna of San Saba, Bertie Mae Mitchell and Bessie Faye Johnson of Brownwood; grandchildren Linda Denise Lovel and her husband David Donaldson of Alvin, Shane Lovel and his wife LesIie of Waco, Kimberly Lovel and Gregory Lovel of Alvin, Katie Lovel and Kevin Lovel of Needville, Troy, Coggin of Moody; three great-grandchildren, Justin, Lauren and Kelsey; three sisters-in-law, Betty Hamlett of Brownwood, Mabel Garrett and Ollie Malar of Grosvenor; one brother-in-law, Bobby Snedal of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
