C. G. Jennings, County Native, Dies In Arkansas

Cecil G. Jennings Sr., 43, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, a native of Burkett, died June 24, 1978.  He was a retired Air Force master sergeant.  Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 1978 at Jacksonville Funeral Home.  Officiating minister was Chaplain Major Kenneth Warford.  Interment was in Little Rock National Cemetery.

Born December 24, 1934 at Burkett, he attended Burkett Schools and completed high school at Coleman High School. Four years ago, he retired from the US Air Force and moved to Jacksonville, Arkansas.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was currently employed at the Little Rock post office.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bettye Smith Jennings; a son, Cecil G. Jennings Jr., a daughter, Mrs. Renate A. Scott, all of Jacksonville; his mother, Mrs. Nora M. Jennings of Coleman; two brothers, Raymond Jennings of Burkett and Willie Jennings of Abilene; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Williams of Coleman and Mrs. Letta Vallier of Abilene; and one granddaughter, Melissa.

Pallbearers were maintenance personnel at the Little Rock Post Office; E. R. Johnson, Reggie Hamilton, Henry Stanford, Rex Robinson, Bill Clinton, Marvin Bowden, J. W. Stone and Ralph Oldham.

Rowden Rites Held Here On Saturday

E. S. Rowden, Sr., age 82, died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 1978 in Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.  Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, at 2 p.m. in Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Paul Smith officiating.  Burial was in Coleman City Cemetery under direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

Born January 24, 1896 in Arkansas to the late Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Rowden, he married Miss Ada Elmine Parson in Wichita County on December 31, 1915.  A retired minister, he and Mrs. Rowden moved to Coleman in 1928.  He owned and operated the E. S. Rowden Sewing Machine Repair Shop here for 21 years.  He was a member of South Concho Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of Coleman; two daughters, Miss Estelle Rowden of Coleman and Mrs. Daisy Leomae Taylor of Morris, Illinois; two sons, Eulis Rowden Jr. of Roswell, New Mexico, and Joe Rowden of Santa Anna; a sister, Mrs. C. H. Bonham of Terrell, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Glen Berry, Cecil Berry, Boyd Duncan, August Garlitz, Jay Briggs, and Charlie Burrows.

Mrs. Casey Of Novice Dies Friday

Mrs. R. B. (Mary Frances) Casey, 62, of Novice died Friday, June 30, 1978, at 8:45 a.m. in the Center Pavilion Hospital at Houston following a lengthy illness.  Graveside services were held Monday, July 3, at 10 a.m.  David Coffman, Novice Church of Christ minister, officiating.  Burial was in Rough Creek Cemetery under direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.

Born January 19, 1916, in Dallas to the late William Almer and Margaret Snell Thompson, she had lived in Coleman County since 1927.  She was married on December 31, 1933, in Novice to R. B. Casey, who died in 1974.  Mrs. Casey was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors are three daughLers, Mrs. George (Lucy) Baucom of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mrs. David (Patricia) Malone of
Houston, and Miss Frances Carol Casey of Novice; one son, David Casey of Abilene; a rother, Bill Thompson of Gilmer; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Owen Casey, H. H. Wilson, D. B. Kirby, Bill Casey, Steve Baucom, and Robert Baucom.
