Murder Trial On, In San Angelo In a case moved from Coleman to San Angelo on change of venue, a murder trial is now in progress in the 119th District Court there, Judge Glen R. Lewis, presiding. Facing a murder charge is Bictorina Vasquez Diaz, Jr., 17, of Santa Anna. Diaz is charged with murder, burglary and arson along with Guadalupe Gonzales Diaz, 19, his uncle, also of Santa Anna. The murder charge stems from the June 7, 1968 death of Weldon Cammack of Santa Anna, whose body was found wrapped in a blanket after his house on the outskirts of the town was reported afire. The jury, including four women and eight men, was selected yesterday. Presentation of state’s evidence resumed this morning when former Coleman County sheriff John Smith was placed on the stand. District Attorney Royal Hart indicated yesterday that the jury would probably be brought in around noon today. Early testimony was out of the presence of the jury. Defense attorneys are Samuel R. Jones and Dan Francis, Waco. Testifying yesterday were Bob Hart, now a Texas Highway Patrolman but at the time of the death was a Coleman County deputy sheriff; Gary Fleeman, also a deputy at the time; Corky Chapman, present Coleman County sheriff; and Justice of the Peace Walter Holt.
