'Impure Water' Charge in Death Proves False

Santa Anna, March 21 - Drinking water that analyses high when it comes to purity, is one of the assets of Santa Anna, of which the citizenship is especially proud.  For that reason there is considerabel resentment here over the statement made at Sweetwater by J. A. Shirley, 32, shortly before he died at a hospital, that his indisposition was due to "impur" water he drank while he was in this city.  It was almost two weeks after Shirley left here that he died.  The inquest revealed that he succumbed to bichloride of mercury poisoning.

Shirley was a resident of Santa Anna less than 18 hours.  He arrived on the evening of March 4 to work in a bakery.  He worked for a few housrs Saturday morning, and then left, saying he was going to Sweetwater to see his wife, and might bring her back with him.  That was the last seen or heard of Shirley here until announcement of his death at Sweetwater Thursday was carried by State papers.

Kick Of Horse Is Fatal To Pioneer.  Found In Barn Lot.
Funeral Services Conducted Tuesday at Christian Church by Rev. Gates

Sam Trimble, 82 years of age, pioneer of Coleman county, was found dead in the lot at his farm home on the Comanche road Monday afternoon by members of his family.  At first it was thought that he had dropped dead from heart failure.  Investigation later by the family physician showed he had been kicked by a horse.  The force of the kick caved mr. Trimble's chest in and death, it is thought, was instant.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the first Christian church by Rev. J. W. Gates and interment was made in the City Cemetery.

Mr. Trimble at the time of death was 82 years, 2 months and 16 days old.  He was born in Kentucky January 5th, 1845, and located in Coleman County in 1886.  he had been a phenominal success as a farmer and was highly respected by the entire citizenship.

He is survived by his widow and other relatives who have the sympathy of Coleman county people in their bereavement.
