King

The Democrat-Voice, with hundreds of other friends and acquaintances of deceased, is sorely grieved by the death of Mr. R. King, ex-Confederate soldier and patriot, which occurred Saturday morning at his home in the Glen Cove community, following a brief illness.  Deceased had been a worthy citizen of the county for more than a third of a century.  During his life he enjoyed the highest esteem and utmost confidence of his fellowman; he lived his religion and his word was his bond.  He leaves a large family of children and many friends who mourn his passing and revere his memory.

(Coleman Chronicle and Democrat-Voice, Coleman, Texas, August 29, 1919.)

(Note from Ralph Terry;  This obituary shows that R. King died Saturday morning, which was August 23, 1919.  However his tombstone at the Glen Cove Cemetery shows a birthdate of May 12, 1846 and deathdate of August 24, 1919, which was Sunday.  I do not know which is correct.  His wife, N. A. King (Camp Lindley) was born January 31, 1859 and died November 13, 1904.)

Winstead

Mrs. Zanie Winstead, wife of Geo. C. Winstead, died Sunday, August 24, five miles east of Coleman at the age of thirty-five years, eleven months.  She was born in Hancock County, Tennessee, September 20, 1883.  Deceased is survived by her husband and three young sons, her parents, all of whom were present at her last illness.  Interment was made Monday, five o'clock p.m. in Coleman cemetery.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William Trent of Oklahoma.  A host of friends extend sympathy to the stricken husband and other relatives in their bereavement.

Junction Items.

The community is saddened by the death of Mrs. George Winstead, who died Sunday evening after an illness of three weeks, although she had been in poor health for many months.  She is survived by her husband and three small sons, besides her parents and several sisters and brothers, all of whom attended her in her last illness.
