Mary (Bush) Parker - born September 28, 1881 - died February 18, 1909 - wife of W. W. Parker After
a nine days attack of pneumonia, on Thursday, February eighteenth, Mrs.
Mary Parker, wife of W. W. Parker, was relieved of her suffering and
called to the home prepared for the Heavenly Father, where suffering
and sorrow are unknown. She was patient and bore her suffering as
only a true Christian can. Many physicians were consulted,
everything that science or love, skill or wisdom could suggest was done
for her, but all in vain, for the hour had come.
She leaves a kind and devoted husband, five children, mother, father, sister, brothers and a host of friends to mourn her loss. She was a true and noble wife, a kind and loving mother and her memory will be an inspiration to all who knew her. To her loved ones there should come the comforting thought that she is not lost, but only gone on before. And weep not as those who have no hope, but lift your eyes heavenward for your ge? is safe in heaven. She paid the debt we all must pay. God's will be there, the memory of loved ones departed. She was tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery at Atoka, surounded by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. We may not know why death should come

Sunday
afternoon, Feb. 28th, one of the largest crowds ever assembled in
Coleman for a similar purpose gathered to pay a last tribute of love
and respect to one who had spent more than thirty years of his life as
a citizen of this town.
Mr. Murray was born in Fayette County, Alabama, Sept. 27, 1852, and died in Austin, Texas, Feb. 25, 1909, in his fifty-seventh year. He moved to Texas about 1874 - settling first at San Saba. In 1878 he came to Coleman, where he engaged in the Mercantile business, first alone and later in the firm of Dunn, Murray & Jesson. In 1890 he together with his brother, Mr. T. W. Murray, Mr. W. B. Hughes, and Mr. T. Rathmell formed the cattle company of Murray Bros. & Co, which operated on an extensive scale over a large part of the western country and even into Old Mexico. About fourteen years ago, while on a business trip to Mexico, he was first stricken with illness from which he never completely and permanently recovered. Mr. Murray became a member of the M. E. church in early manhood. He joined the Methodist church in this place in the '80s. Prior to the beginning of his illness he was an active and liberal supporter of the church work - notably in the erection of the present church building. Shortly before his death he expressed to a friend a living interest in the salvation that is in Jesus Christ. The funeral services were conducted at the family residence at 4 o'clock by Rev. W. W. Moss, of the Methodist church, and Rev. W. A. Gillon, of the Presbyterian church. The burial was conducted by the Knights of Pythias, of which order he had only been a member. The great crowd which followed his body to its last resting place was itself an elegant tribute to the lovingly remembered for many deeds of kindness, and for his unswerving loyalty ot his friends.
