Coleman Senior Earns 2A Big Country All-State Award

Adam Jimenez

Although the Coleman Bluecats only finished the year with a 1-9 record, they have one bright spot that few other 1A or 2A Big Country Teams can boast about ... they had a player named to the 2A First Team All-State squad.  Adam Jimenez, a senior at Coleman High School, was named to the First Team All-State squad at defensive lineman. Adam recorded 88 tackles in 2009, 36 of which were solo.  He also had 15 sacks, five quarterback pressures, and caused five fumbles.  Jimenez was the lone 2A Big Country player to make first team All-State.  In fact no other Big Country 2A player made either first or second team All-State.  Albany, who is playing for the 1A State Championship this Saturday, only landed one player on the first team All-State squad, that being junior defensive lineman Jonathan Hargrave.  Albany’s offensive lineman Wade Montgomery made 2nd team 1A All-State.  What was surprising is the snub of Albany running back Elijah Hudson who has rushed for 2,473 yards and 40 touchdowns for the Lions this season.  He made the honorable mention list, while the three first team running backs rushed for 1,600 or less each this season.
