Thomas E. Scott

Of early pioneer stock, his mother having come to Henderson County
in 1848, Thomas E. Scott was born two miles east of Murchison,
September 11, 1872 his parents being Travis and Elizabeth Scott, for
many years prominent in the social, religious and educational history
of the county.

Thomas E. Scott was born and reared on the farm. He received his
schooling at Murchison and Athens and has followed the pursuit of
farming all his life.

He was married to Miss Minnie L. Langley of Detroit, Texas, to which
union was born two sons and two daughters. In his chosen calling Mr.
Scott has scored a signal success and is regarded as one of the
county's foremost farmers.

He and his good wife have the priceless satisfaction of seeing their
children making the most of the sacrifices made to give them liberal
educational advantages.

Becoming a member of the Methodist church at the early age of
fourteen years,, Mr. Scott has been and is a zealous supporter of the
church of his faith. He has concerned himself largely in matters
pertaining to the advancement of agriculture and has taken part in
practically every co-operative effort made for the betterment of those of
his calling.

He is a Democrat and has interested himself in the fortunes of his
party, although he has never been so active as to be in any sense
termed a politician. Living his life as an industrious well balanced man
he has sedulously performed those duties incumbent upon him as an
upstanding citizen of his community and county.
